So, I am almost 18 months post op from Gastric Bypass surgry. I am below my goal weight. I weighed 270 on the day of surgery in Arpil of 2010 and I now weigh 118. I am wearing a size 2 and an xs in shirts. I am so excited about my upcoming tummy tuck, but I am super nervous. I have never had a surgery where I have had a long incision. What do I need to do to prepare for this surgery? What could you absolutely not live without? This is what I have in order so far:
1. I have filled my pain meds from the surgeon.
2. I have bought 2 compression garments for after surgery
3. My house is clean
4. I am cooking meals for my family and freezing them so that I do not have to worry about feeding them.
5. I am flying my best friend out to m house to take care of me for 9 days after surgery. My hubby will deal with the kids!

What else do I need to do?? I feel like I am forgetting something. How bad was the pain for you vets? I just wish that it was already done!! LOL!!

I think that's about all you can do. Probably look for a recliner, I slept in one for about 3-4 weeks. Ask if they can give you a compression vest along with the binder. Ask when you can resume driving, taking a shower, if you don't have a Rx for Liquid Lortab get it, that stuff was like gold to me. Pain - Day 3 was the absolute worst for me, after that each day got better and better. Was walking slightly hunched over for about a week, after that it got better. I still wear my vest and get swollen and tender if I do too much and I'll be 8 weeks out this Friday. Just keep everything within reach like slippers, remote control, and laptop. Good luck.

I had an extended tt with lipo a year ago.  Honestly the pain was not that bad.  I was SORE but not in horrnedous pain.  What I would recommend though is to get your stool softened/laxatives ahead of time.  Believe me when I tell you that will be something you want to have on hand, and start taking them every day while you are on pain pills.  I also would recommend a shower chair of some sort....you tend to get weak the forst week and better safe than sorry.  Other than that, move as often as you can, that will help alot.  Good Luck

Hi!  I'm almost 2 weeks post-op hysterectomy, TT and liposuction.  My best advice is to not become constipated.  Take stool softeners every time you take your pain meds.  My doctors, gyn & PS, could not stress this enough.  Also, have "your area" set up for when you come home.  I had my husband put my recliner in the bedroom.........I have a hard time sleeping in the bed after surgery.  Have a small table beside you so you can have all of your essentials at hand; pain meds, water, telephone, etc.  Also, I used a raised toilet seat for the first 10 days.  You can purchase one at Walmart for $20.00.  Make sure that the things you will need to get to are at waist level.  My appetite has been off since surgery, so make sure you have protein shakes, bars, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. to help with your protein intake.  And, take it easy and rest, rest, rest!  For me that is the hardest part because I am used to being on the go, but my body is calling the shots this time around!  Oh, and keep coming back to this forum even if you just read others posts..............It really does help and everyone on this forum is extremely helpful!

Congratulations and enjoy your new body!

Kim

Chapstick, benadryl for the itching, one of those grabber things to get stuff off the floor, pull up your rugs and runners in your house so you don't trip on them. (Because your feet will be a shufflin) I like the little 25 gram tubes of protein from walmart myself as I couldn't eat or drink hardly anything for a couple of days.

Best of luck
