LBL questions and lots of 'em!

I should just number them. I think I will.

1. Today I started having a charming new pain. Electrical, tearing pain when I stand from sitting, but the twist is that it isn't at my suture line. It is up higher at my waist up to just below my breasts, but only on the back. I'm hoping this is normal and just indicates healing. Anyone experience anything similar?

2. My abdominal binder is too tall (for lack of better explanation) and it sort of folds and cuts into me when I sit down. The one I have is 3 panels tall and I cut it into 2 panels and that helped. My question is do you think I'm compromising appropriate compression? This one goes from just below my breasts to about 2" above my suture line. I also am wearing a spanx body briefer, so I do have that constant compression from my boobs down to my mid thigh.

3. Still having really significant burning in my outer thighs from the lipo, but it isn't constant. The numbness is, but the burning really only occurs when I go from sitting to standing. Anyone?

4. Stairs--can't remember when they said I can go up stairs. Anyone recall how long you had to wait?

5. Does anyone have a magic wand?  If so, can I please borrow it? If you'd rather not lend it out, could you at least please wave it and move the clock forward a couple weeks so I can get to the feeling better stage?

Seems from re-reading my note I should just stay sitting the hell down!!!

Thanks guys!

Denise

Sorry, girlfriend. I did not have any of those issues. My surgeon said I could go up the stairs after a few days. I think I waited about 3 weeks, though.

Hang in there!! I started to feel human again about the 6 week mark. Now at 3 months out, I feel great.

Well crap! LOL! The nurse just keeps saying, "You had a lot of work done!" I'm like, "Well doesn't everyone who get's cut in two!!!"  I'm sure she is referring to my starting heavier than some and I get it, but I really have just been knocked for a loop by this pain. I guess I've just not ever had this kind of discomfort for this long. You know the deal--moms don't get to be sick!! Thankfully, my girls are being AWESOME little helpers. My youngest has decided to be a nurse for halloween, and she has certainly earned it. I'm just trying to take away any guilt about what I can't do and just get well. Of course, my boss is none too thrilled that I'm going to be off work probably 4x longer than we discussed. I don't really enjoy the work anyway--maybe I'll get lucky and get fired!

Thanks for always chiming in. It is good to have a place to vent and be understood--very few really understand this process. Thanks chica!!

I imagine the back pain is probably muscular from your poor body posture post-op.  (I assume you're walking around hunched over a bit.)

I didn't zip my binder all the way up because it squished the hell out of my ribcage when I did and I turned just fine, so I imagine you will too.  :)

The soreness from lipo lasted longer than I had anticipated.

I had no restrictions on stairs.  My bedroom is upstairs, so I went up them when I came home from the hospital.

If you find a magic wand to borrow, will you lend it to me so I can magically get awesome boobs without having another surgery?

1.  No idea about that sensation.

2.  When I got too swollen, I would loosen the top part of my binder.  You would probably know if you aren't getting enough compression because the abdomen kinda feels funny without being compressed, IMO.

3. I either do not recall this sensation, or didn't have it.  I'm leaning towards being forgetful.  I think I am suppressing memories of pain, cause I'm already ready to jump up on the operating table again!  lol

4.  I live in a 3rd floor apartment so I didnt wait at all.  I was terrified of how painful it would be and it was surprisingly easy, and no big deal at all.

5.  Sorry, I wish!  Healing is a drag.  I think I gained 10lbs after my LBL just from sitting on my ass for 6 weeks.
