Consult questions to ask

So I"m not at goal but my stomach (panni) is becoming ever so annoying and painful in pants and impeding my psoriasis to clear in the mons region.  I've decided to start plastic surgery shopping to see if I can get rid of this.  What questions should I ask the surgeons besides the basic ones posted on this forum?
ie recovery time, cost, insurance coverage if any, length of surgery, time under, pain meds, possible complications, how many surgeries have they performed, credentials, referrals, etc.  What else?
Also, how do I determine if I need a LBL, TT, or just panni removal?

Definitely ask them their  policy on revisions. If there is a problem or if your scar ends up wonky, you might want a revision. See how much that would cost you.

A panniculectomy will only remove the apron of skin below the bellybutton. If you have extra skin above the bellybutton (like me!) then it won't help with that. When you bend over at the waist, do you get a roll of skin that hangs down from the upper stomach? If so, you'll need more than a panniculectomy to correct it. But what you do really depends on you. I'm sure I'd benefit greatly from a LBL but I'm only doing a TT because of cost and because I'm not needing to look like a Barbie at the moment. I just wanna get the worst stuff dealt with.

Definitely ask the plastic surgeon their opinion. Good luck!

How exciting for you! I'd ask how much experience they have with massive weight loss patients as our skin is much different. And be realistic about your results! Good luck!!

Seek a referral or get some advice from your bariatric surgeon and see if they have a PS they prefer.

See if your insurance would cover you if you developed problem and need to stay in hospital longer or receive extra services.

Ask about how you will be treated for blood clot prevention, since a large surgery like this plus the compression garment  are risk factors for clot development.

Check the accreditation of the facility where  your surgery will be performed. Larger procedures like TT or LBL should be performed at fully staffed facilities with an overnight, laboratory, and x-ray capability.

Go over photos of your docs work and ask to see patients *****semble you.
