TT postponed due to breast complication

I'm soooooo disappointed! I was scheduled to go in for my tummy tuck this friday morning.

But at my pre-op today, my surgeon checked out the progress of my breasts and was concerned about all of the post-operative bleeding that went on in my left breast. He said it looked like I kept bleeding well after the surgery. He is worried that the collection of blood will get infected. And doesn't want to do the TT in case that happens because it would be one more complication.

So, I have to take another round of antibiotics and wait wait wait. I'm on restriction now, no lifting (except my toothbrush and my fork) and nothing that raises my heartrate into the cardio zone. He doesn't want me to start bleeding more. He said long-term worst-case scenario, the extra blood around my implant will harden and turn to scar tissue (a.k.a. capsular contracture), my implant won't drop, and I'll need a capsulectomy (when they go in and cut out the scar tissue). But we won't know for a few more months. He also said though that it could heal up perfectly fine with no problems. I just have to get a lot of rest, try not to use my arms, and wait.

I rescheduled my TT for one month from now, october 28.

I am glad he's being super safe about it. He's not charging me any extra fee to reschedule even though he'll lose that day in the operating room and has already booked the nurses etc. I know it's in my best interest.

But I still spent the afternoon crying in bed. I'm scared for my breast and I'm disappointed that I have to live with my flabby horrible stomach for another month, and I have one month longer when I can't apply for the new job I really want because my recovery is going to be delayed.

Not the end of the world. If my breast is messed up, he said he can fix it. I'd still take my breasts now over the ones I had before, no contest.

Sigh. This too shall pass!

So sorry, Sweetie, I was excited for you for your big Friday. The time will pass, you'll heal, and all will be well. Hugs.

I'm so sad for your disappointment and at the same time, so happy that you have a surgeon who is wise and conscientious!  He's looking after you and that rocks!  You're so right, this too shall pass.  Who knows why things happen.  Take this as just what's meant to be.  You'll be so much stronger and more healed in a month.

Sending hugs your way.

Awww, Lizzy.  Big hugs, hon.  I know you were really up for that TT.  Butttttt....I guess this is why surgeons say they want to see how you heal.  You and your surgeon are taking the best approach.
Now you can use this time to be really rested and that will give you better results when the next surgery does happen.  Try to keep your mind occuppied with something so the disappointment won't be as bad.  Got some movies you've been wanting to watch?    Jenny

Well that is suckish! Why can nothing be simple? I was actually thinking about you today. You really have to use your arms a lot to move after the tummy work, so as much as it blows, you will be better off. Is there anything to help the blood move? Heat, ice, massage?

My "girls" are still rather tight and my skin is so tender to the touch. Still have my one hypersensitive nipple and one with no feeling at all. Did get my steri strips off and stitches out. I think my scar is going to be really nice and thin.

Well sweets, I'm sorry you got thrown a curve ball, but seems lately on this board the mantra is better safe than sorry!

Hang in there!! I'll pray for no ill effects for your "girls".

Sorry to hear that, I know you were really looking forwad to the TT. Sounds like you have a good doctor though putting your health ahead of his profits is a good thing. Take it easy and before you know it the 28th of Oct will be here and it will all be worth it.

Best of luck get well,
Bubba
