Ten weeks out and ten steps backwards!
I am now ten weeks post plastics, and all of a sudden the last few days I feel like I am taking ten steps backwards in my recovery.
I am getting swollen at night, have a couple really tender spots, and my hips are hurting again! How can that happen? I haven't been doing anything that I wasn't before hand. Same work at my office job. But for some reason I'm hurting again.
Anyone else headed toward the healing finish line, only to suddenly step backwards a bit? Not happy about this!

I am the same way! I was almost at 100% then started having some pains along my incision- even had a little stitch cause a tiny hole over the weekend. My surgical nurse took a look today and said all was still good.. Just wish that everything had stayed forward motioned..
I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!
"People spend a lifetime searching for happiness; looking for peace. They chase idle dreams, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within." - Ramona L. Anderson
It could very well be that this is just a symptom where you are in the healing process. You say you're 10 weeks out, if you check out the wikipedia article on wound healing
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wound_healing
they have a nifty timeline. You're most likely in the midst of the "maturation and remodeling" phase, which involves your body replacing the shorter term temporary 'emergency' collagen and tissue components with permanent ones. Everything is going from a disordered "stick this stuff together" state to an ordered "this is how things are actually supposed to be" state. That transition could be causing the seeming backslide.
Or maybe you're feeling better and slowly doing more and more without realizing it, little things like getting up and down a bit more quickly, etc.

I think we expect to heal quickly from these major plastic procedures.
I'm 4 months post fleur de lis TT & brachioplasty. I don't expect to be 100% until I'm a year out. At 3 1/2 months out I had a opening appear (overnight) from a vertical belly incision that never had an issue and had healed perfectly. It is closed over now - but it took 2 weeks. I previously had a necrotic open wound immediately after surgery that took 2 months to close - but this new opening wasn't anywhere near the other open wound??
I wouldn't be suprised if some more stitches work their way through or something else may "appear." My belly is still swollen and really "achy" especially in the evening. I'm not back to exercising yet. My weight continues to drop. My appetitie hasn't returned. I'm getting all protein, fluid and supplement requirements. Getting 8 hours of sleep, etc. Labs are good. I have my 4 month post op visit with plastic surgeon tomorrow.
I just think the surgery was so "major" that it takes the body months to heal from the trauma. Just my personal opinion.

Oh honey, I don't think you are alone. My PS says it takes 3 months for good healing to take place especially with muscle repair.
I am 8 weeks out and I still need pain meds a couple times during day for mild to mod pain depending on how much activity I involved myself in. But there are days I feel awesome then there I days I feel like crap and aching with soreness but then again I believe that is activity related.
Now I am suffering with sciatic nerve imflamation. The back pain is masking the abd pain so I don't know how I am healing now lol.
I hope you feel better soon. When you have a bad day just go sit in a recliner with your feet up, put ice on your hurts. Take a pain pill and relax. The next day will be better and your body will thank you for the break.

THANKS Ladies!!!! Sorry to hear I'm not alone, but glad too. I agree...I think most of you have said we forget how much we've put our bodies threw, and we just expect it to bounce back to normal. Today's better. I started wearing my shape-wear again and that is helping. I had it completely off the last couple of days, or for shorter amounts of time. I think I'm just not quit ready to stop wearing it yet.
Best of luck ladies, and thanks for the advice and sweet thoughts! Happy Healing!
