Anyone had any liposuction?

I'm really nervous about this, the more I think about it.

I'm having a fleur de lis tummy tuck in less than 2 weeks. The plastic surgeon offers lipo of 2 areas along with the surgery, no extra cost. When he did my exam he said he'd do my ken-doll (mons) and flanks.

I've been thinking about it though, and I'm worried that it will just make me look saggier. Well, not in the 'intimate' area becuase that'll be lifted at the same time. But in the flanks/outer thighs, if he takes away fat, the skin really has no elasticity left, so I'm worried it will just sag more. I have a final pre-op consult with him next weds so I guess I'll ask then, I didn't think about it when we were planning the surgery.

Has anyone had lipo after losing a lot of weight? Were you happy with the result?

Also, what was the healing like? Was it very painful, was there a lot of swelling, etc? Did it increase your healing time significantly if you had it done with another procedure?

"Flanks" are the love handles on the back, aren't they? If you're not getting a lift all the way around, I would worry about saggyness. I did not have any lipo, so I can't help you with any advice. I've thought about getting it in my thighs, but I'd get it done with an inner thigh lift if I ever do.

haha oh cr@p you're right! I looked it up, I was confusing 'flanks' with 'saddlebags'. Good thing you said something, I might've woken up from surgery extremely confused...

Yeah I would LOVE to get my thighs vacuumed out and tucked up at the same time. I hear the recovery is so hard. But I think it'd be worth it. Maybe if I miraculously find some rich sugardaddy who wants to finance the rest of my transformation I can think about it. I just wrote the final check for my TT and... *ouch*.

I had lipo done in conjunction with my surgeries. If he does lipo to your outer hip area and it creates more loose skin that can be addressed by making your horizontal cut on your tummy tuck  extended. I was cut down each side to the table and that skin was tightened on my outer hip area. It really can help in sculpting certain areas. It hurts A LOT! It leaves you very bruised and battered. You are just more sore than if you hadn't had it done. I was very happy by having the lipo done and at the same time as my procedure. It definitely made for better results for me.

Good point. He did say to me that he considers the best incision to be the shortest incision. But I'm just gonna flat out tell him, I don't give a heck about scars, carve me up like a christmas roast. I'm already covered head to toe in stretchmarks. Scars don't bother me. Skin and fat do. If he's willing to make the scar a little longer then I'll opt for the lipo. Thanks for the input.

I had lipo on my muffin top, mons and a few other areas, before my LBL, BL, arms and medial thigh lift.  I didn't notice the pain that much as all my body was pretty sore.

And are you happy with your results? Do you have any excess/wrinkled/dimply/loose skin in those areas? You do bring up a great point, I'll already be in pain from all the cutting, what's a little lipo soreness on top of that, huh?

Because it was done at the same time as my LBL, everything was pretty much pulled tight at that time.  You are already on pain meds...  I didn't notice the lipo being any worse.

I had lipo with my TT, and lipo on my "side boob" area

My surgeon did an AMAZING job...the lipo turned out beautiful. I am still a bit tender in some areas, I'm ten weeks out now. My surgeon said because of the degree of lipo he did I would be tender along the abdomen area longer. My side boob is NO LONGER, and looks GREAT. Never even had an ounce of pain with my BA/lipo there...the lipo did not make me "saggier" in any areas. It was one of the best parts of my surgery.

Good luck to you!
Elle

Thanks, that's really reassuring to hear.

I think I need to get my affairs in order and just stop obsessing. I'm stuck at home recovering from my BL/BA, and have too much time to think. I trust my surgeon. He has a great track-record. And if he says he's gonna lipo me, I should accept that he wouldn't do it if he thought it'd make me look worse. I have no reason to think he'll to a bad job. It's just my head spinning in circles, worrying.

thanks for the input.
