Burning sensation in abdomen

The last 2 days I noticed a burning sensation in my abdomen, the swelling has gone down so much but it still feels like I am swollen quite a bit. I don't know if that makes any sense. The day before yesterday I woke up with a burning sensation and yesterday again. It's not that bad on scale between 1-10 I would say its like a 3 or 4, nagging but not too terrible. I'm 5 weeks out has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone think it could be just nerves regenerating? It is right above and below the incision line in the very front under my belly button.

Yeah it does feel like that. So probably just the nerves then? Thanks for the reply.

Not sure if this is the same thing...

I have a vertical incision.  I find that when I spend time sitting (or sleeping curled up a bit) and stand up - my incision BURNS.  Like, sometimes I walk a bit hunched over.  I use bio-oil and message the incision for awhile (like 10min maybe) and it hurts like the dickens - but eventually seems to kind of soften up and stretch out.

The feeling is kind of like if you put your fingers in your mouth and pulled your lips out into a stretch HARD and held it.

Well I have spent a lot of time in the recliner, I haven't been able to get back into bed yet. I tried the other night and it wasn't comfortable. Do you think this is why? Will massaging it help? I'll give it a try, thanks for the response.

When I moved to the bed, it stung at first - I put a pillow under my knees for a few weeks to reduce the pull on my tummy.

I find the massage and bio-oil really helps to loosen things up.  I know when I haven't massaged for awhile (I usually do it 2-3 times a day) because it stings more.

I describe the burning as what we used to do as kids... called an indian rope burn...  my doctor said its from the nerves and the skin being streched so tight.  I had it from the begining and it has seemed to have gotten better.  My surgery was 9/1.  I am still in bed on my back.  I keep my legs up on pillows and really only get up to eat and go to the bathroom.  I am so tired of the bed rest, but I tried to return to work yesterday and only lasted 4.5 hrs and then I had to come back home to lay down.

There is also a second problem, I noticed this at the same time, the muscles in my lower abdomen from my naval all the way down to my pubic area are extremely tight, a lot tighter than previous weeks. Could I have pulled a muscle? I haven't been doing anything strenuous or lifting anything heavy. Kinda worried if this is normal or not.

The tension and burning sensation has subsided a little but I noticed that I'm getting muscle spasms now, little ones. I put some ice on it yesterday and gave it a little massage and it seemed to help a little. Anyone else have any opinions about what this is or if it's normal? Thanks to those of you that replied.

Paul,

I don't know what you are experiencing there, but I would contact your surgeon tomorrow to put your concerns to rest.
