I scheduled to have a tummy tuck, breast lift, +- augmentation for November 1..but when I went to my checkup at the bariatric surgeon's office they referred me to another surgeon who does alot of bariatric patients..

I consulted with her and im a little confused because her opinion was a bit different than my original surgeon..

He offered to do lipo free with my abdominoplasty- offered to lipo my back, flanks, thighs..I was happy because what girl wouldnt want free lipo..and i have a bumpy appearance on my upper back thighs which i am very self conscious of..you know..cellulite..ugh

anyhoo..when I went to this surgeon, who i felt knew more about stretched bariatric skin she said i dont need lipo anywhere, that she thinks my thighs look fine, and that lipoing the stretched skin would cause a rippled effect...she was adamant about not doing it...

so here i am, feeling a bit more comfortable with the woman who does bariatric patients..but googly eyed about getting lipo..whats a girl to do...

please share your experiences in these areas if you have them..

oh and btw now i have a 3rd consult to ask about this lipo thing...arg!

I agree you only want a ps that is used to working on our stretched out skin. Also, you may want to get a third (or fourth) opinion. I learned something new from every consult I went to.

I would also want to see before and afters of each surgeons work. As many as possible, and of people who looked similar in their 'befores".  There can be big differences between surgeons work, and it may not just be that one tolerated some imperfection better than another (like dimply back thighs). Some just have a better eye for aesthetics, or a better skill set. You really need to see each ones work.

I think seeing the PS with the more experience with folks who have lost over 100 ounds would be the better fit. I have had 2 consults as well. We have so much excess skin... by the way nothing is free..

has the first surgeon done alot of work on post bariatric patients? if not, you might not want to use him. getting another opinion is very important. remember, this is something you will have to live with the rest of your life. make sure you get it right.

I chose a plastic surgeon specializing in body sculpting after massive weight loss.  He said he would not do liposuction at the same time as TT or brachioplasty.  He did say he could do it as an outpatient later, but would not do it with my open procedures.

I'm sure it is on an individual basis - but I'd choose someone working with massive weight loss patients like us.

I had a TT with Lipo on my back side and hips.  The TT was so easy.  I lipo was so painful and to this day my hips are still senstive. I would stay away from the lipo
