What did you bring to the hospital? Did you stay over night?

So what did you bring to the hospital?  And was it different if you stayed over night?

THanks.

Great question. I'm thinking that since I'm having arms done as well, I don't plan on taking much. Also would like to know for those that did have arms and belly done, what they wore home from the hospital, I'm thinking big sweats and a mens long tank.

I took sweats and a dress. I wore the dress commando because I had 4 drains.  I took a put two pillows in the car for ride home.  I wore slip on shoes. Really you do not need much in the hospital.

Hair ties and chopsticks. I stayed overnight, I left wearing what I went in with big tshirt and drawstring knit shorts. (no undies because of the binder and drains from tt.)

Arms - out patient - wore a button front short sleeve pajama capri set!  (No one was going to see me  and I was going to bed when I got home anyway! :-)  I would recommend though...I wore camis for at least a week.  No bra was going to go on AND I couldn't clasp it anyway.  It was summer so I just put on a "built in" cami and elastic banded shorts and called it done!  Also take slip on shoes!

Tummy & Legs - Overnight - took my phone, chapstick, and Oasis (a dry mouth spray) I wore a soft cotton dress.  (w/ a cami top)  I was only 3 weeks post arms so bras were not really my friend at that point any way.  The dress gave me enough room to just slip it over and it covered the drains, etc.  Also wear/take slip on shoes (I took flip flops)

My brachioplasty extended through my underarms.  I could not get over the head tops on or off by myself - so button up or be able to step into it and pull it up over your hips.

Dress is fine.  I had long sleeve denim shirt and the drain in each arm was "held in" by buttoning the cuff of the shirt.  I also had fleur de lis abdominoplasty and wore cotton elastic waist pants two sizes too big.  I pinned the drains to the pants.

I had a pillow to elevate my feet in the car and a small pillow to fit between the seat belt and my tummy.  I also had a quart size storage bag & paper towels in case I got sick on the 4 hour drive home.

Make sure you have water to drink ( or take pain pills with).  I could not extend my arms to reach the seat belt or fasten it.

I used my cell phone & iPod in the hospital.  I also took stool softners after every dose of narcotic.  Chapstick is good.

Best wishes.

I ended up staying 2 nights for my LBL with butt aug due to blood loss/low hemo.  I didn't use anything while there.  I was completely out of it due to a combination of weakness from the loss and being doped up on pain meds.  I think I brushed my teeth once and maybe used  a hair tie.  That's it.

I wore a loose dress home.

Hijack:  Can I ask how low your hematocrit got? I have a low/normal level and have for many years. Was the blood loss unexpected? Just a bit worried.  Thanks!
