Things aren't moving. If you get my drift.

(Sorry for spamming all of the boards here the last few days, when you're high as a kite on pain meds and valium and you're staring at a new set of boobs that don't feel like your own, you tend to reach out to whoever is available. Which happens to be you guys).

Anyway, I haven't pooped since before my surgery (which was thurs morning). This is stressful for me. I knew to expect it because of the pain meds, and I've been faithfully taking my stool softeners (3 tabs a day, spread out) and have tried eating bits of apple and other fibrous stuff. But no go. I'm drinking TONS of water, and barely any of it is getting peed out which is also not fun. I drink 4 cups of water and an hour later i"ll only pee out half a cup. I have gained 11lb so I guess that's where all the water is going, but still. Frustrating.

Any other ideas for getting my bowels to cooperate? I really don't want to take a laxative, they're so bad for you. I can't do coffee either because caffeine makes me sick. I'm probably not walking as much as I should, because the meds just zonk me out and I'm constantly fighting to stay awake.

I just want to poop. that's all I want right now. Oh, and I want my mom to let me watch Nancy Grace. She hates that show but I love it and I'm going through withdrawal. Sigh.

P.S. I made a youtube video about my breast procedures, links on how to get to it are on my blog.

When I had my lbl in July, it was also the 3rd or 4th day that I was determined to GO!  I ended up using a Fleet enema which worked!!!  I was also taking Miralax everyday.  About 3 days after the enema things finally returned to normal.

Hope that helps!

Your video was pretty hilarious, fyi.

I had the same thing after my boobs...and I wanted that poop OUT!  I used senekot+S (with stool softener) and a glycerine suppository kind of enema.  It got everything going - and once I started, I was good.

Miralax. Every day.
Not a stimulant laxative. Not bad for you.
I've been pooping steady since post-op day 1.

Do not pack in any more fiber until you get things moving.
I've seen people end up in the hospital doing that.

thanks for that advice, my mom has been trying to feed me psyllium husk powder and other fibrous bulking agents but I still haven't gone yet, so maybe that really isn't a fabulous idea, if I'd just be backing myself up more. I'm going to try taking a good walk around the block, then taking a fleet enema if that doesn't solve things. Yikes!

I had surgery the first time on a thursday, didn't go until tuesday.  I would definately take a laxative & use a glycerin suppository.

I take this cereal the serving size is 2/3 cup for 13 grams of fiber = 90 calories! I add it to my greek yogurt (so I get my protein in). My first 2 meals after surgery was a protien shake,  I put the cereal in the blender and whipped it up with my greek yogurt & 2 oz. of frozen strawberries and had a delicious drink!   I also would add half of the serving to my salads!!! I had my first BM 3 days after surgery !!!!And felt sooooo human once again. But I eat that much fiber on a normal basis anyway...

Give it time, but if worse comes to worse call Dr.
Good luck,
