Hernia update and plastics

 Saw my RNY surgeon today who is going to fix the hernia.  He's really concerned because I've had to have vicodan 4 times over the last two weeks for hernia pain.  He said it didn't feel any different than last time, but something is going on and he doesn't want to wait with me just masking the pain.  He says we are doing the surgery next week, but is waiting for me to talk with my Plastic Surgery Surgeon Monday morning (he's out today) to talk about what to do.  Paperwork was just submitted to insurance for a planned Oct. date.  I talked to my insurance and they say they get 15 days to respond after getting paperwork, but since it's life threatening, they will try to speed it up.  So now I may have to decide to self pay the plastics or have the hernia surgery then go back for plastics.  I don't want to do two surgeries, so I may never get the plastics done.  Oh, and if I start needing vicodan every day, I'm to call him and he'll get me into emergency surgery.  I'm just so upset right now.  Everything was going so well, I'm doing well maintaining, exercising, eating right.  Finally scheduled to have the hernia repaired and get plastics.  My doc was sure I could get a lot of it approved by insurance.  Then the blasted hernia decided to have a mind of it's own.  Why now???!!!!

What a major BUMMER!
Sorry you're in pain but a hernia that involves intestines can be very serious.
Maybe the Plastics/Insurance will clear early and it can all be done at once.
