What do I need to remember--surgery a week out

My garment had the hooks on the sides. I put the pad around my drains (when I had them) then hooked the top hooks. I put the others in place through the sides of the garment, then hooked it the rest of the way closed. The garment then held them in place. Hope that makes sense.

I would say everything Renee said above - ditto all the way!

In terms of protein drinks - my personal favorite is Isopure (whey isolate) - the clear flavors that come in glass bottles.  They are sold @ GNC and Vitamin Shoppe individually and then if you like them you can buy a case.  Alpine punch flavor tastes like Hawiian Punch if you like that sort of thing.  They are very sweet but perfect diluted so that each 20 oz bottle = 40 oz fluid.

I made chicken soup in advance with lots of chicken for pro - it just makes you feel good.

Good luck!!!

I had a LBL 8 weeks ago. What are you having done again?

Ask for help! Dont be super woman. It will be a time of healing!!!!

Location location location!!!! I set up 2 spots I knew I would be shuffling back and forth to. I kept my supplies in both areas.  I bought a supply of magazines and books I wanted to read, and did not read them until after surgery. I put a few in each spot.

I made sure to have one of my landing spots by my sliding glass window that faces our lake. I need sunshine, or I get depressed!!! And it helps to not lose track of time, which is easy the first few days.

I made sure to have some purtty house gowns, I schedualed a pedi/ for myself prior to surgery as I knew it would be impossible for me to do it myself. And I made a pedi appt. 2 weeks after surgery, a nice treat!!!!!! Also a hair appt. after , little things to keep me feeling like I was moving forward.

Get your scripts filled early, incase their are any problems filling them you aren't faced with it at the last minute.

get your stool softener (dont wanna bear down)3 x a day colase. I took colase immediately upon leaving surgery.
-add fiber to your protien drinks (I perfer greek yogurt for my protien drinks w/frozen strawberries)
I was able to eat solids pretty early, had only 2 protien drinks initially.
***Keep your BMs regular. narcotics and surgery will leave you constipated!!!!!

***Position things you plan on using at waist level (what are you having done again?)

Keep us posted,

I'm having a LBL and BL with augmentation. I do have an area set up for me with tables next to my recliner where I'll sleep. I figure there to the bathroom is all the further I'll probably be traveling for a bit. I've started Miralax everyday and take colace 2x a day regularly. I defniitely need a pedicure. I think I'll get that on the books. Colored my hair today and plan to get it cut in a couple days so that is fresh. Scripts are filled too. Guess I'm moving right along. Oh, also got myself a grabber thingy--that is if I can get it away from my 5 year old who loves to play with it.

Thanks!!

Denise

Consult with your pharmacist when you pick up your meds!! I did, and I'm glad. Turns out that one of the antibiotics my doc prescribed is rendered ineffective by calcium, so I can't take it within 4 hours of drinking milk or fortified OJ etc. Another medicine isn't supposed to be taken with grapefruit in any form. My doc never mentioned it and I never would have known. So be sure to have them explain ALL of the meds to you, even if you think you already know.
