Hi guys.17 days out today.
Dr pleased with incisions and belly button...all clean and dry.

The JP? Not so much.
Putting out 75-80 cc day so I'm stuck with it until next week.
Boo.

Good news?
-I'm clear to start exercising.
-I'm clear to ditch the binder from hell and switch to a Spanx type garment.
-I'm down 3 pounds in 3 days. (I hate the scale.)
-I went to my daughter's school and had lunch with her.
-I put on a bra and real unders today!! Yay!!

So, question of the day...
what kind of spanx thing is everyone wearing?
He wants it high up- like to the bra line...plus down onto the leg.
I'm bumfuzzled by all the choices.

Please holler out your favs!!

Thanks in advance.

Curious. How did/do you know what size underwear to buy after cosmetic surgery. i have worn spanx for so many years that i would not have a clue what size cotton to buy.

Hi Ju!
I have not bought anything new.
I am wearing my pre-op "period" panties.

Hanes Cotton Briefs...soooo sexy!!

But they are baggy and give room for the JP.

But as far as shapewear goes...I despise it. So, I don't have any.
Don't even know where to start.

I hate spanx, so when I ditched the garment at 5 weeks I have been back to regular bra and panties.. It's awesome you are healing so well, and I am jealous you can exercise.. I have to wait till three-four months out...

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

Hi Fawn- don't be too jealous...not like I'm gonna be setting the gym on fire or anything!

He told me to go slow!

I still have some swelling in the upper abd...that is why he thinks I will benefit from the garment.
Yuck!

You look awesome by the way!!

I'm am two weeks out from my scheduled surgery, but I feel like I need to warn you.  After I had my open RNY, I was cleared to exercise.  I went to the gym and did a Zumba class.  While in the class, I felt my incision burn.  I mean it wasn't open, so I thought I would be ok.  Well I don't know what happened....but that burning feeling turned my scar from needle thin - to about 1 inch wide (from my boobs to  my belly button)  I absolutely hate it.  It's been a year and a half since my bypass and the scar is still wide, and purple.  My husband used the same doctor for the same procedure I did the week after I had mine.  You can barely see his scar.  (My doctor said he will be removing the scar in my upcoming TT -Yea!)

I don't want to scare you, but just want to caution you to not over do it.

Thanks for the words of caution.
I feel ya!

He told me to go slooooooow.
Gonna start by hitting the walking track in my neighborhood.

I am closely watching my incisions for exactly what you speak of.

My vertical incicion has almost disappeared and I am only 18 days out.
I want it to stay that way!!

Holly, thanx for sharing your experience.  It is good to hear what others have gone through and gives new meaning to just the doc's words of caution.

I know it's incredibly annoying but you are lucky the drain is still working.  If not you could end up with a seroma draining for months!

I used the wal- mart cheapo spanx becuase of the drainage and the cost.  Mine were long line girdle types (the short ones made the skin bulge at the thighs.  The top had hooks and eyes so I would get it tighter and it felt much better. They  had stays inside that kept them from rolling down

Good luck-

Pup

Pup, when you say "top" do you mean the top of the girdle-type spanx or did you get a bra, too?

I found these:

Sweet Nothings on line, but I'm not sure if these are the brand you have.
