Crazy weight fluctuations post-op...anyone else?
Hi everyone. 2 weeks post op today.
I got on the scale at one week and had lost a few.
Got on again today and have gained 5 pounds in 5 days.
Really?
I never eat more than 1500 cals a day.
I eat 80-100 grams of prot a day.
Plenty of fluids.
Maybe eating too much sodium...just maybe.
Granted , I am pretty sedentary but not five pounds worth of sedentary!!
Please share your post op weight experiences with me.
Someone- quick- talk me off the ledge!!!

When I got home, I was a few pounds up, got up to 7 pounds up. Freaked out. Then about the 3 weeks post-op, I finally moved myself back upstairs, weighed myself there, and I was 12 pounds lighter. I was weighing on the wrong scale. Wasted a lot of worry...lol!!
Currently I'm about 8 pounds lighter than I was pre-op and I had 5 pounds of skin removed.

Swelling is evil! As your body seeks collateral circulation post plastics, you will swell.
I have been swelling like crazy! After working my first 3 - 12 hour night shifts, I was up 24 lbs, I couldn't believe my eyes!
I am on my 5th - 12 in a row and I am now up 15lbs, so it does get better! Just stay away from sodium, drink plenty of fluids and eat your protein!

Get off the ledge (aka scale) right now! I gained 8 pounds after TT/LBL - stayed off the scale a little over a week (weigh-day for me is sunday) and after about 10 days finally saw a drop - 8 lbs - which actually puts me almost 10 lbs below goal. Not that I'll be able to maintain this but I see it as the lower end of my 10 lb range (135-145) - CRAZY since I haven't seen this weight since I was a teenager!
Eat to heal and don't stress too much about the sodium - the nutritionist @ my bariatric surgery program said that after WLS it's hard to consume too much sodium b/c our new stomach size. I find that drinking lots of water and tea with lemon helps get rid of the fluids. They WILL come off, it's just really discouraging when they are there.
