Plastics consult

I am a little over 2 years out from lap band surgery.  I am interested in having skin removal.  I started my weight loss journey at 383 pounds today I weigh 123.  So excited never thought that I would have the results that I have had.  My only regret is not having surgery sooner.  This has been life changing.  Even as a teenager I weighed more than 200 pounds.  Now I look in the mirror and try not to get upset that everything "sags".  I have a few questions for those of you that have had plastics and are willing to share.  What is the aproximate cost?  What is covered by insurance?  How much can be done at once?  What kind of recovery or time from work missed?  I need to have thighs, arms, tummy and breasts lifted.  Any feed back would be great.

For all that you want done, costs can range widely anywhere from $20,000-$40,000. Some people get their insurance to cover the panni part of a tummy-tuck. Your surgery would probably be split into 2 parts. My surgeon wanted me off work for six weeks, but some here go back after 2-3 weeks.

Start getting consults and see what the surgeons say. If cost is a factor, you may want to consider a residency program or getting your work done in Mexico. Good luck in your journey!!

I just had my 3rd consult today. The first was with Dr Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico. His price for me was around $13,000 - $14,000. The second was with a private practice plastic surgeon in my area (Northern Virginia....super pricey) and his was over $40,000. Today I met with the University of Maryland plastic surgery resident clinic, and it will be a little over $18,000. I have no reservations about going to Mexico with Dr. S. but being away from home for 12 days is not practical for me. So I am having it done with the resident clinic. I will split it up into two stages and do the tummy and thighs first, and then in a year or so (or when it just bugging me to much) I will do the arms and breast.
