Post Op experiences
I live in Dallas, my surgeries were in Houston, a 4 hr drive. I had surgery the first time on a Thursday, second time on a Friday, went home both times the following Monday. I went back 1 week post op & this time removed the drains myself. It wasn't too bad at all.

Gastric Bypass, Dr. Daniel Jones, Dallas, 2003
LBL, Lipo, Butt Aug, Full Thigh Lift, hernia repair - 5/5/11, Baylor Houston Residency Program - Dr. Echo & Dr. Bullocks
BL/BA, brachioplasty - 8/26/11, Baylor Houston Residency Program - Dr. Lee & Dr. Bullocks
My plastic surgeon is also 4 hours away. I had an overnight hospital stay for fleur de lis abdominoplasty and brachioplasty. Went home the next evening after surgery - 4 drains and a pain pump. Very uncomfortable ride home. (take something to put feet on, pillow for between seat belt and tummy and small "puke" bag - just in case.)
I developed tissue necrosis where horizontal and vertical incisions met. Had a large open wound to irrigate and pack. Made weekly trips to Plastic surgeon (4 hours each way) for the next 7 weeks. Now we make the drive monthly.
I am a knitter and have done a lot of knitting riding in the car. Hubby does the driving.
I wanted to be in my own home and my own bed (electric - so I could raise the head and feet) & drinking my well water. I would have been very uncomfortable in a hotel.
