PS in 13 days!!! AHHHH!
Oh sweetie you'll do fine! I totally FREAKED out before my plastics. Even YouTubed a couple of videos and it TRAUMATIZED me! ( DON'T DO IT!) But I can promise you, no matter how much you've worked it up in your head....its not that bad!
With all my freaking out, and I've been threw a lot of surgeries...the plastics I was most scared of. When I got out of recovery I was amazed at how good I felt. Now I'm not saying it was a walk in the park. The first week was rough, recovery is slow but not bad. Just remember you are putting your body threw something major and its going to take time to feel back to normal.
Get lots of rest post op. You'll probably have no appetite for the first week, most of us didn't. So stock the cabinets with your favorite protein shakes, yogurts, and snacks that you can nibble or sip on until it returns. Use lots of pillows on the couch to keep you from lying flat. And take lots of naps. The first month you'll be mighty exhausted. Sleep when you feel like you need to.
Also you might want something to use in the shower as a seat. The first few showers I wasn't able to stand up, so my husband put a beach chair in the shower so I could wash up sitting down.
I used double bagged (like in a freezer zip lock bag) frozen veggies. They were always ready in the freezer and I could put down my yoga pants. Totally helped with the swelling, big time!
Biggest thing...specially when manging pain...take your pain meds every four to six hours on the dot! Even if you feel better or feel like you don't need them. At least for the first week, keep em by the clock. You'll be amazed at how well you can rest and feel when you stay on top of them. My husband handled all the pill taking for me. I didn't have to think about it. He kept track of when it was time to take them and would even wake me up during the middle of the night to stay on top of them. What a lifesaver.
Last tid bit...sorry I've talked your ear off...BENADRYL 50mg every six hours. It was my miracle pill. When I began to heal the itching was HELL for two nights before I called my Dr. As soon as I started taking one pill before bed I slept amazing and the itching stopped.
Best of luck to you and happy healing. Please let us know how it goes!

Elle, thank you so very much for all of the info you gave me!! Its nice to know that yes it will hurt and I'll be miserable but it wont be as bad as Im allowing my brain to think. I cant tell you how many surgeries I've had in the past almost 6 years. This is by far not the worst but for some reason I'm scared... silly huh? I dont really like ice... for some reason I dislike it on my skin... but looks like i will have to suck it up. You said it helps with the sweeling? is there anything else I could do as well as far as the swelling goes.? okay.. so I know to have stool softner, gas x strips, take meds regularly and go get a stool or bench to put in the shower. oh and I also know about the benedryl. I also now know to stock up on yogurts and shakes etc. I also put my fav protein in some greek regular yogurt
Really, thank you so very much. You have no idea how much i appreciate any and all of these bits of advise!!
