Second post-op visit. One drain gone!
All went well.
Belly button looks good.
Area where the vertical incision meets the horizontal looks healed.
One JP out. The other hopefully out next week.
I complained about swelling and feeling and got a mild scolding.
oops.

Hi Hun.
Yes, I am better each day.
To be honest, last night was the first good sleep.
You know why? Because I have sleeping on my back with these f'n drains.
My back and neck have been bothering me- big time!
Last night, with one hip free of drains...I rolled over on my side and fell asleep hard!!
Yipee.
It truly is the little things.

I'm right behind you exact same results too! One drain out good healing. I am quite surprised by how uncomforable the swelling feels. Sometimes by the evening feels like i'm going to burst open. One problem i'm having is nausea especially when I eat and i'm not on pain meds only extra strength tylenol. Has this been an issue for you? I can't figure why I would feel so nauseated all the time.

Hi Sandy.
I was very queasy for the first 5-6 days. I could not eat. Just protein drinks and cream of wheat.
I am much better now. My appetite is good and I am back to eating meat. Much happier as I despise protein drinks.
The anesthesia can really hang on and wreak havoc with the nausea. Hope it gets better for you soon. Till then, stay hydrated. It should be your priority. Dehydration will only add to the nausea.
Oh, the tightness, swelling and numbness are a wierd thing...aren't they?
Hard to describe to folks that don't know.
When I lay in bed at night, I still am on a wedge pillow with a few more pillows under my knees. If I am not flexed, the feeling is horrible. I feel like a stretched balloon that could rupture any minute. It is awful. I wake myself up if I straighten my legs during the night. It is a feeling that is beyond gross. I hate it. It gets better the longer I lie there but the first 30 minutes or so in bed are the worst.
Surgeon wants me to stay flexed for a while...no argument from me!!!

Sounds like yoour comin right along with your recover.
I am 5.5 wks out and the swelling is horrible in the evening but I have almost nothing during the day. The swelling causes alot of pressure and I still have some pain in left side. I am taking small dose Vicodin one or twice a day now. I just need something slightly stronger than tylenol.
I never go without garment and I switch to binder at night per doctors orders and that seems to work pretty good.
Keep uping your protein and water. Suddenly you will wake up and feel real agian. It gets better each day. Heck my tummy looks different everyday and I am shrinking again lol.
