TT: how long were you on pain meds? Which meds?

I'm having a fleur-de-lis tummy tuck next month, and my doctor has prescribed me valium (muscle relaxer) and lortab for the pain. I'm wondering how long people took their pain medications for. Did you go through your whole prescription? What were you taking? I'm considering asking him to switch me to percocet, since lortab has hydrocodone in it, and that tends to make me really depressed (oxycodone has the opposite effect). I might as well be in a good mood if I'm gonna be laying around for weeks at my mom's house, right?

Also, how long before you could drive yourself places?

Thanks!

I had a lbl and i was on percocet  for about 4 to 5 days.  then I just took tylenol.  I did not go thru my whole prescription,  I am not a good pain medicine person, do not like the way I feel on them.  I also had more discomfort than pain.  We are all different.

I took tylenol for two days after surgery, I stopped pain meds while in the hospital. I didn't have a fleur de lis though, just the lbl. I've experienced very little pain.

I haven't driven yet at 9 days out, but I'm sure I could. It has more to do with not being allowed to lift anything over 2 lbs, so even grocery shopping isn't possible.

Everyone is different.  I had severe ventral hernia repair and abd muscle wall repair with a panniculectomy/ anchor cut TT and I am 5 weeks out and still need pain meds maybe 2 times a day depending on how much activity I had that day.

I am suddenly getting better and not needing anything.  I take percocet but I am going to get a script for Vicodin to have on hand for just in case.  I really don't need the percocet anymore.

Be honest with yourself and the PS cause if you need the pain meds you need to take them and recover comfortably.

Hi - I'm 2 wks out from TT/LBL and still taking lortab in the a.m. and p.m. - I think at this point I can switch to tylenol it's just that psychological dependence... I feel like if I don't take lortab the pain will come back but in reality it hasn't been over a 3 on the pain scale in the past few days, whereas in the beginning it was in the 7,8,9 range.

I had a Fleur de Lis TT with muscle tightening last Monday the 22nd.

I took Norco every 6 hrs until Saturday. Then I switched to plain Tylenol.

I drove for the first time yesterday. It was awesome. I probably could have done it sooner but I drive a Ford F150 and I was daunted with how I was gonna get my country wide ass up into that truck.

But my partner rigged up a little plasti****a step stool with a dog leash tied to it...I used it to step up into the truck then pulled it up. Worked perfectly!!

I was on percocet for 5 days and motrin another couple. I still have most of my prescription. I was driving at a week.

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!
