??--Biocorneum cream/VitaMedica Vitamins--any opinions
Hey there everyone. Well, I am officially scheduled for 9/16! I went to a preop appt a couple days ago and was given some Biocorneum cream (the preop girl and I got along really well and she actually hooked me up with a jumbo bottle!) and it was recommended strongly that I buy these VitaMedica supplements. They are a multi with lots of Vitamin A and C and a bunch of other supplements normally found in my vitamins. The "system" also comes with Bromelain with Quercetin and Arnica Montana. Between the vitamins and the cream I paid $180.00. Now compared to the 20+K I'm spending on the surgery, it isn't much, but I am thinking these vitamins are nothing I don't already take or couldn't supplement separately on my own. The lady who talked me into them (different than the lady that hooked me up with the jumbo cream) made it sound like they were just the best supplements ever.
Any experience with the cream or vitamins? Should I return them and get my $$$ back or just go ahead and use them? Of course I want to do everything to ensure a great outcome, but I don't want to waste $$ on gimmicks!
Thanks!
Denise

Hi! I didn't use the cream but my surgeon does provide this particular vitamin regiment. I have always taken Bariatric Advantage vitamins but he had me stop them and take these for 2 weeks prior to surgery and until they were gone. Don't know if they helped, but I had no incision issues or seromas or anything.

No matter what - stay to the ASMBS guidelines for bariatric surgery. We still malabsorb vitamins & minerals because our digestive tracks are altered.
I did up the Vitamin C before surgery, I upped protein to 130 gm a day and stopped eating processed food, ate more raw food etc., to be in the best condition possible.
I don't know what the Biocorneum cream is for??? I'd do some research. $180 is still a lot of money - especially if you don't need to spend it.
I'm usually "leary" of a physician office selling products. I know the silicone strips at the plastic surgeon office were TWICE the cost that I could get the exact same thing from the manufacturer.
Next time say: "Let me think about it and get back to you." Impuse buying (at least for me) often brings regrets. I need time to think and do my research.
Best wishes.
