New to this forum....getting bat wings clipped next month

This summer has been so hot and elbow length tops has made it worse.  I'm with you.  Even though I'm 60 too, I don't want to wear things that completely hide me.   Although, there's a multitude of loose skin under these clothes.  It isn't pretty, but shape wear helps me look better in clothes.

Love your new avatar!

Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

I took off 2.5 weeks, but felt well enough to go back after 10 days. I LOVE my new arms!! They look better than they did when I was in my 20's and thin.

I can't wait until I can wear sleeveless or at least short sleeved tops/dresses.  Seems everything stylish these days doesn't have sleeves.  Guess I'll have to wait until next summer to do that, but I'm sure looking foward to it.  And looking forward to my blouses and jackets fitting better.  Think maybe I'll be able to wear some mediums instead of large.

I'm right there with you Wanda!  My arms (among other things) are dirving me nuts.  I have to go up 1-2 sizes just to accomodate the arm skin.  I plan on doing mine in Nov.  Can't wait till next summer to wear sleeveless!!  Good luck.

Thanks for the response, Kate.  Have you had any other plastics?  I think my arms are the only thing I'm going to get done.  If I wasn't feeling so guilty about paying for the arms, and if I hadn't paid for my VSG, I would have my stomach done too.  But it isn't really too bad and shape wear covers it quite well.  It's these bat wings hanging out and flapping in the wind that bother me the most.

Wanda,

If it can be lifted, nipped, tucked, or augmented, I'm doing it.  Nov will be 18 months since my RNY and I have been at a stable and happy weight since my year anniversary.  My skin no longer fits my body, so this really needs done.  I have a hernia, so the insurance will pick up the tummy for sure and we are working on them to pick up some of the other stuff as well.

I had brachioplasty but also had fleur de lis abdominoplasty with extensive muscle resculpting at the same time - so I don't think I can give you a clear account of having just arms done.  Are your incisions extending through your armpits??

I had the most discomfort in armpits.  At 3 months out - I still have "tightness" when I reach high or extend arms back.

I had weight restriction of 5 # for first month, and 8# for second month - but don't know if that was for arms, TT or combination of both.

I had surgery May 24 and still can't wear sleeveless.  First it was ACE bandages for the first 6 weeks and then silicone strips with a "stocking" covering to keep them on - so still have been wearing 3/4 sleeves all summer.  I'm looking forward to next year going sleeveless.  My arms look great.  So nice to hand mix things without the batwings swinging back and forth - the giggling is gone.

Hi
I had my arms done back in May,along with a Lower Body Lift and Breast Lift/Augmentation. I'd say 2 weeks off from work is realistic.  After two weeks you will still have some swelling and tightness, but it should be manageable.

I have some pictures of my arms on my profile if you want to take a look. I'm very happy with them, and the scars even at 12 weeks are fading quite a bit.  I'd happily trade them for the excess skin.  I'm now sleeveless and loving it!

Hi Joanne.  You look amazing!  I checked out the pictures.  Makes me look forward to the new arms even more.  I'm glad I decided to wait until summer is over to have it done.  The scars should be well faded by next summer.  I'm excited!
