Would you do PS if you could not take off work?
I know that in California it's illegal for anyone at work to ask you what procedure you're having. I told my workplace that I will be using my 7 days of sick time and 2 weeks vacation time put together to have a procedure done.
I'm planning to go to Dr. Sauceda in Mexico. I will have the first surgery on a Friday, then the face lift portion of surgery 3 or 4 days later. I will be in Mexico for 14 days.
My first surgery is on Dec 9th and I'll go back to work on January 2nd. I will work from home or a combo of 4 office/4 home during that first week which will give me an opportunity to nap as needed.

I would like to work something like that out. I am going to be self pay so I'd like to do everything all at one time. My thighs bother me horrible but I've seen the procedure and it looks quite scary to me....so I keep thinking it will just be the lbl and breast lift and augmentation, but I don't know if they will do it at the same time. Surprisingly, my arms are ok. I've been working out with weights since week two after my RNY and slowly increased up to 70 lb increments and only have a bit of crinkly skin at my underarm area. They aren't perfect by any means but I don't feel self conscious about them. The rest of me, I do.
First of all refer to your procedure or procedures as reconstructive surgery, that is really what it is. Secondly, I've heard of people using an emery board under their skin to highlight their irritation. Return to your P.C.P or Plas. Surgeon and have them write a diagnosis of medically necessary. You NEVER have to discuss with your employer what procedure you are having other than it is med. necessary, and that you are not to engage in ANY WORK RELATED activity until a certain date. Your surgeon will be more than happy to write that letter or sign the one that you have written. Good Luck
Not only would you be in pain after a week, you could cause serious complications if you do too much too quickly. And you could permanently mess up your results. For self-pay, that was not something I was willing to risk.
I split open my wound at 4 weeks out from something simple. I'm 8 weeks out now and still get swollen by the end of the day at work. It's a tough recovery.
I agree with the others. Do not tell ANYONE at work that you are having plastic surgery. If anyone asks, tell them it's private, or you could say "female issues" (let them think it's a hysterectomy).
