Today was one week follow-up for TT/LBL and I'm ecstatic.  I will be wearing the binder for a while but that's ok. I feel 100% better today than even 2 days ago and if anyone had ever told me that I would not have believed it.

Pain is much better and I can move around pretty well. Discontinued dilaudid 2 days ago which I now know is what was causing the itching.  Minimal itching on lortab, which I don't need to take every 4 hours as in the beginning - but still take benedryl - what a lifesaver.

Best of all is seeing a FLAT stomach even with swelling!  I would never have thought this possible and imagine will continue to feel surreal for a while.  So all good news for now.  And all of you have been great support - thank you!  --very sincerely, carolyn

Are you kidding me... this is my absolute favorite thing to talk about (HELLO, we just had an earthquake.)  Initially the 2 that drained the most measured 35-40 cc 2x/day, the other ones 10-20 cc and both amounts gradually decreased throughout the week.  Today all 4 were draining 5-10 cc.  I was told that the more you move around the more they drain.  I really didn't move around much other than walking around the house and one day I walked around the block.  I have gauze pads over the sites where the drains were so any additional fluid will continue to drain.  Hope this helps! And I'm excited for you too!!!

another question...sorry!  did they encourage you to move around so you would drain more?  i'm thinking the draining is a good thing???  and were the drains bulky under your clothes....i'm planning on pretty much living in yoga pants for awhile.

They do encourage you to move around but at your own pace - slowly.  Draining is a good thing b/c you want to get all those fluids out that are pumped in during surgery (that make you feel even more bloated) and these fluids have to come out via the drains. It feels good to move around even though you might not want to. And it's all relative -moving around for me was nothing more than walking back and forth to the kitchen but it helped!

The drains are a bit bulky but not bad once you get used to them.  I safety pinned them to the bottom of my shirt.  Yoga pants will be great as long as they're not tight.

Wow those drains came out early.  Isn't is wonderful?  For some reason I felt imprisoned with those drains (2.5 weeks).

And yes even with the swelling that flat tummy is just amazing.  Wait till ya get the nerve and energy  to try on jeans lol.  I lost it, it was awesome and I was swollen so I know I will go down a size more.

Dont skimp on your pain meds too much like I tried to do.  Its  not good on your healing process for you to be all aching and uncomfortable.  Trust me, I was stretching pain meds out because I had never taken pain meds more than a week ever in my life except for the DS surgery and now this.  But I am good now.

Keep posting, its alot of fun to read all these post.

Hi Carla - It is SO liberating to no longer have tubes sticking out of my body.  Still tired though and even though I had momentary decrease in pain I do still need the meds every 4-5 hours.  I can't imagine the thrill of wearing jeans w/o the spanx undershirt- really I can't !!! Thanks for your words of wisdom - I think you're about 5 wks ahead of me?

Yep lol hehe, I could not help myself.  I felt good and it was early so swelling was not an issue for the day yet lol.

Ok, I tried on 3 pair and then I needed a nap and pain meds.  I was so dang tired but so happy.  I never knew I could look good in a pair of 16 regular boot cut LOW RISE jeans lol.

No one should ever wear LOW RISE jeans with a pannis like I had lol.  HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY.  I  cannot wait to do it again,
