Surgery tomorrow, going in for Hernia, TT & Gynecomastia.
I'm not much of a poster but would like to thank the message board as it has been a great resource helping me get ready for my surgery. I feel pretty well prepared more so than if I would have not been using the board as a research tool. I've lost 270 lbs with vertical sleeve I had 2 1/2 years ago, and i'm ready for the extra to come off at this point. I've already shelled out 8000 dollars and nobody has done anything to me yet, hope i get what i'm paying for.

You are an answer to my prayers today. I am researching results of the sleeve by its self (I have DS) for my son. Wow you lost 270 pounds . I definately will show this post to my boy.
As far as PS goes, make sure you do your homework on the PS of choice, don't be afraid to shop around. If you are self paying, stay on there A$$ till you get what you want.
I am 4 weeks post severe ventral hernia with abd wall repair and a panniculectomy/ anchor cut TT and I am happy so very happy. Losing the wt was only the beginnig. I feel like a new person.
Please keep us posted. Good luck Bubba and thank you for posting.

Thank you for support and congraduIations on your weight loss and plastics. I hope if feel like you do after I get mine done.
I think the sleeve is great, I was self pay for that too. I was down another 20 lbs. but gained that back after I bottomed out on the weight loss. I was 540 lbs at my heaviest and 13 months after my surgery I was down to 250 but settled in about 270. I was in hospital 52 hours and went home after eating a little yogurt. I think the sleeve is a breeze as far as WLS goes, it will get the weight off just have to work a little harder to keep it off as I don't have the bypass. Still no HUNGER pangs after 2 1/2 years can't beat that. There are alot of women in my group starting to get the sleeve and alot of them are losing a 100 lbs or more. Or 70% or better of there excess body weight which is about where I am at. Which is great for a sleeve if you have been doing your research. I say women because there are not that many men that come to the monthly support group meetings let alone guys that have just had a sleeve done.
I went and saw 4 different plastic surgeons before I picked this one, she has worked on other people in my bariatric group and seems to do good work. My bariatric surgeon will do hernia repair on me at same time hopefully save a little money. I hope there is 20 pounds too come off with this but she did not want to give me a number and get my hopes up, but i here you lose weight with this because your body heals your metabolism etc.
Sorry to ramble good luck with your recovery & son.
