I had fleur de lis tummy tuck and brachioplasty at the same time - 3 months ago.  I am 62 years old and I did have a complication (tissue necrosis with a large open wound) - so my experience may be "abnormal."  I also had major resculpting above & below belly button.

TT was very painful.  Husband helped me for 10 days.  I couldn't flush toilet, open refrigerator door, reach first shelf in cupboards, etc.  I could wipe myself - but only from the front.  I needed help dressing - picking things up, bending over, etc.

My brachioplasty extended through my armpits - the length of incision does matter.  When incision goes through armpits it does make extending arms out, up or back more difficult. (Had to have bras that clapsed in front, shirt button up front - nothing going over the head or reaching back.)

Weight restriction was 5# for first month and 8# for month 2 - now I'm working my way back to normal.

I went back to work (desk job and only 3 days a week) at 4 weeks.

At 3 months my tummy still really aches.  My "open wound" has closed but my tummy is so tight and sore.  I still don't have my energy  back.

I began eating 130 gm protein a day a month before surgery.  I was in good shape, at goal weight, labs good, etc.

Plan ahead.  Put everything you will need on countertop, use a little stool to step up or sit on it to get into lower areas.  It is difficult for the first 10 days or so.  I wish you the best.

Funny how people are different huh?

My arm incision extended right through my armpit...so that the tip showed at the back when my arm was down.  I had a bit of trouble stretching up and wide (like to hug someone), but no trouble wiping or reaching to flush, etc.  I wore an over the head sports bra in the hospital and after - and was fine getting them on and off as long as I did one arm at a time.  It wasn't super tight.  I wore t-shirts and tank-tops too - no buttons on the front.

I did have a "pull" in my left arm when I stretched it...but I was told to keep stretching even though it hurt to loosen it up -and it worked.

Wow, thanks for posting this.  Its good to hear all possibilities, even the ones that aren't all roses!  I hope you are feeling more like yourself now.  I never thought about the bra thing, not sure if my incision will go through my armpits yet but I will have to ask my doctor.  I will for sure have to add a sports bra to my list of things to get.

Thanks again!
