Wound Care

So as you know I have some wound healing problems.  I was wondering if your wound care was done my your PS or if you founda wound care specialist.  If you went to a wound care specialist, when?  Did your PS refer you?

I didn't have any complications at all - but all of my wound care for both surgeries was done by a home health care nurse.  My dr. sent them to me the first day out of the hospital.

A couple that I've seen haven't been all that bright - but the one I have this time is great.  He really knows his stuff and is confident about removing bandgaes, or treating anything suspicious.  My grandmother had the same thing after her mastectomy...and had a deep hole for a long time - the nurses were great at getting things treated properly, cleaned and healed up.

Thanks Cyndy!

I have to say they are just ugly.  My legs look AWESOME!  My arms look FANTASTIC!  My stomach GROSS!!!!!!

I am changing the dressings 3 times a day and am still bleeding through 1 gauze, ABD pad, and Maxi pad, I have more and more areas opening up and draining along the incision at the bottom of the abdomen (as soon as they turn upwards to the hip they look awesome.)  I have an appointment tomorrow and hope she removes the drain which is doing nothing and I think is part of what is causing me pain still.  I continue to have a intense pain frequently.

I spent all weekend in bed and the swelling is better than it was by Friday evening.  Unforunately, I have to work this week and the kids come on Wednesday!  This too will pass.  I have to say I keep repeating that cause I am finding that I am VERY emotional (probably b/c I feel like I am not making progress and I am not able to do what needs to be done to prepare for school)

I recently started wearing an abdominal binder under my garment and it has helped AND my back doesn't hurt as bad.  Unfortunately, I am developing little blisters along my stomach and flank area.  Today my ribcage was so sore to the touch. I can only guess from the constant pressure.  I have taken it off and tried to let the little blisters get some air so they can heal.  I will definately ask tomorrow,

Thanks so much for checking in on me!  I really don't know how things are......I have a feeling though I am WAY behind normal progress!  I still can't walk too much without being very bent over and my thighs start to really hurt,
