I saw my Bariatric NP today and she started documenting on my chart info so that if I decide to have a a TT I will have the documentation necessary to turn into the insurance for them to pay for it. She told me that a tummy tuck is just the lower part of my stomach and that is all the insurance will cover. She said if I want the upper part done that it is abdominoplasty and that I will have to cover it. When I just looked up the surgeries on here over where it says "Plastic Surgery Procedures" It lists abdominoplasty as the whole abdomen? So now I am more confused than ever.

Has anyone had their insurance cover the whole abdomen?

The term panniculectomy is just the lower part beneath your belly button going from hip bone to hip bone. A full TT is this pulling your skin all the way up to the top of your abs, then tightening it up to the muscles on your abs the on the way back down then reposition your belly button. I think if you can get ins to cover panni then some surgeons will let you pay the difference to get a full TT.
My ins denied panni 3 times I had 1 appeal left but couldn't take it mentally anymore. So I went self pay thinking i was just getting the panni done but she is doing a full TT maybe an extended TT where they go as far as they can get to you on the table without rolling you over.
It took me a while to learn terminology on the board but you'll figure it out. Good luck

I may be wrong, but the procedure that deals with the lower abdomen only is the Panniculectomy. No muscle tightening and something that some insurance companies pay for - for Bariatric patients,  I always thought a TT was the same as an abdominoplasty.  I had an anchor cut TT because I had a lot of excess skin in the upper tummy region.  A regular TT didn't take care of that for me.
