I am self pay for TT  but insurance is paying for umbilical hernia repair. As i was told it would be cheaper to have both done at same time.  How many have had it done this way and what did it cost you or how much did you save by having insurance pay for hernia repair. I paid plastic surgeon $4700 upfront to perform procedure at hospital but this includes gynecomastia as well. But the anesthesiologist, hospital, & hernia part will be worked out through insurance.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Will it be two different surgeons?  Some one recently told me they start the clock ticking the minute the plastic surgeon enters the OR.   I think you could get more info by calling your insurance company to see how they handle it.

I had my TT & abdominal hernia repair in '06.  My insurance paid for skin removal and the hernia.  I pain $2000 for muscle tightening.

Can you get your insurance to pay for the skin??

About that. I went to a consult for tt and a general surgeon to do hernia and I believe it was around $4500.

The prices you guys paid sound pretty good so maybe I'm not to far off base here as I was hoping to get by for 7-8 thousand after the dust settles. My claim for PS was denied 3 times so what I paid the plastic surgeon (4700) upfront is for her to come to the hospital and perform a full TT and gynecomastia. The hernia is covered though, it seems weird the surgeon who did my WLS will do my hernia too I think i'm in the wrong business. I did get a statement from the hospital about estimated costs for the procedure which is hernia & the plastics and it was 6000 dollars but my share would only be 900 not counting any deductible. (which i've already met) But this doesn't include general surgeons fee or pathology. It just seems a little cheap compared to what other people have spent for their PS.

This eases my mind a little now thank you.
