Now, I realize that as my day grows closer, I am getting nervous and I am coming up with many questions.

This was not covered in my pre-op so I'm gonna ask here...

Did anyone remove hair ahead of time?
Did your surgeon ask you to or did you just do it on your own?

I realize the incision line will be right there and they will be doing some work on the mons area.

So, maybe they will do it?

Interested to see what everyone else did.

Thanks in advance!

I was told NO SHAVING before surgery.  I did shave the area a bit about a week ahead...so I had some "stubble" on surgery day.  They didn't shave me in hospital at all - just cut through it...

I think the no shaving has to do with infection etc.

I did not shave.  And I had very little shaving done in surgery.  My hair line is below my incision, but not by much!

I waxed (down there) the weekend before surgery.  I'm going to get my armpits waxed for surgery next week.  I just figured with all those incisions I wanted to be sure they could see!

They told me absolutely no shaving because of infection.

My doc (Dr. Zachary - University of Chicago...outstanding BTW) is actually doing a study on the aesthetically correct amount of pubic hair for a particular body.  During my procedure TT/panni with lateral extension he removed some of mine.  The next day in the hospital when he came to visit he measured from my clitoris to the top of the pubic hairline to ensure he nailed it!  I never knew there was such a thing but I'm glad to know I'm in proper proportion.

I shave down below once every few months such that when my op date came last week-there wasn't much of anything! That being said, my incision is almost a fleur in its circumference but not tightening and the drains were/are (one was removed this morning and the area hurt after for a half hour!) in the mons (very sensitive) and annoying to manae in toilet and hospital jammies.

I was told not to shave for at least 7 days prior to surgery also.. And they did not shave anything during the procedure..

I am always shaved and I was just asked not to shave for a few days prior. Nothing was shaved by the nurses.

Thanks so much for all the replies!

Actually, the resident called me this morning to talk about something else so I asked him.

He told me not to do anything.

They will "take care of it" on the table.

They don't want anything done ahead of time that might affect my skin integrity.

So...there we are.

I'll head to the OR in my 'natural state'.
