I'd looked into Brazil doctors, but ended up going with Dr Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico.  Dr Sauceda has a group here on OH.  You can click on Dr Sauceda in my siggy line.  If I remember right Tom, Levittown_Loser had a consult with a Brazilian PS.

I also checked into Brazil but the prices were no where near Dr. Saucedo's prices, or the residency program that I ended up using.  ALSO, the flight to Monterrey (for me) was only 2 hrs, the flight to Brazil was horribly LONG, just didn't think I could do it after surgery!

If you consider overseas or out of the country procedures (which is generally not a great idea for many reasons), try to stick to the types of surgeries with lower risks and less frequent major early complications. Ones that would fit that description: breast augmentation, upper (but not lower) eyelid surgery, liposuction, simpler breast lift without implants, fat grafting,  rhinoplasty, simpler face/neck lifts.

I would be concerned recomending things like thigh lifts, arm lifts, body lifts, complex facial/brow procedures, lower eyelid, and some of these long mulitple combination procedures. A lot of the complications (particularly seromas and stich abscesses) will still be showing up weeks out from surgery, long after you've returned home. Unless your surgeon has some colleague who they can call up to handle this for you, it can be difficult finding someone to assume your case in the event of complications (which happen frequently in the weight loss group).

There's a lot of real talented surgeons south of the border, but these follow up issues with complications cannot be ignored when you're considering this. I think this should be part of you consultation with your surgeon ie "Who do you know where I live who would be willing to treat a complication for you?" As we speak I'm taking care of baritric plastic surgery complications from colleagues in Tennessee and Kentucky who know me well enough to call and ask for a favor. I also had to recently do that on a thigh lift seroma to a patient who was having difficulty returning (2.5 hour drive in state) weekly for seroma drainage.

that's my home country and I did plastics there before surgery, when I was thinner in the past.

imho, Brazil is known as the country with the best plastic surgeons in the world. Brazilian women are VERY vain and in the last years it turned very easy for everyone to get plastics... the prices are good as surgeons want to get the clients (I think most women there had some procedure done).

I firmly support the idea. I just checked (for myself) and BL seem to be half the price as here in the states with my surgeon. you have to pay around 1200 for the ticket, but I think it's still worth it!
