Let's talk butt augmentation

I'm perplexed. I'm hearing about flap augmentations and that they just leave the upper part of the rump with some projection and that it looks odd and hearing about fat transfer augmentation but that some of the fat can "die" leaving an uneven appearance.

Hoping to hear from anyone that has had either about your outcome--if you got pics and are willing to share, please do!

Also, can you tell me about the discomfort level from the procedures on the rear? Not sure how the heck you rest with front, back, side, rump done.

Thanks guys!!

Denise

I had the butt flap augmentation when I had my LBL & thigh lift.  It was uncomfortable & still is uncomfortable today @ 3 months later.  I wouldn't say painful tho, but very uncomfortable.  Like now even if I back up & lean my back side against a desk or something it feels like I'm leaning against 2 bowling balls!  They say the tissue will soften over time & be lots better, can't wait for that!  I never even thought of having it done, it was something they kind of "threw in" for me so I said ok!

It does look better, just can't wait for the "softening" to happen!  Also after surgery laying on the back was very uncomfortable & still is as it feels like your laying with a towel rolled up under your buttocks.  Like I said, uncomfortable, but NOT painful.

I'm happy I did it!

I'm jealous!  Since WLS I've been wearing "bubbles" which are like shoulder pads for the butt.  Good luck - I'm sure you're going to heal great.

Thanks for sharing that.  One other question...do you feel that it looks natural and even etc.

From what I understand, even with fat transfer folks have that hard bubble feeling for a while.

I had the flap and love it. Otherwise I would have absolutely no ass. He wanted to do the Brazilian butt lift (using my own fat) but said I did not have enough fat (I know I have enough in my thighs, but I think they like to use it from the mid-section). My butt was $3000 extra, but I definitely think it was worth it.

I guess I had a flap-type of augmentation??  There is a pic of me in the OR during surgery that I will see if I can scan and show you.  What Dr. Kaplan did was remove the skin off of a circular area on the top part of my ass.  Then he left the underlying attached and bunched it up a bit with some kind of surgical string......like a muffin.  Then he pulled the skin from below up and over that (part of the normal LBL).

You can see before and afters on my profile.  There is no password needed.  My ass has started to soften a bit and settle in and is looking nice, if I do say so myself.

The butt aug was the most painful portion for me and the longest recovery.  It wasn't bad, pain-wise, but was/is the most bothersome.  Even now, at about 10 weeks post-op, I can't lie flat on my back because the top of my ass is sore/uncomfortable.  I slept with lots of pillows for a long time and now sleep on my stomach and side.

Dr. Kaplan doesn't like to do the fat transfers due to it not lasting and having more sagging.

Thanks guys. I'm really leaning toward not doing it. I am going to be working as a medical transcriptionist and I really can't imagine sitting for hours with the discomfort y'all describe. I guess I have to remember that if I don't like my butt without it I can think about the fat transfer later (since I'll still have PLENTY!)

He said he doesn't think that I'll have a flat butt. I guess only time will tell. You gals that had it look great! I wish I was I was that brave. The surgeon I'm going with is just not a fan of the flap or the fat graft. I have seen some flap procedures that left a "shelf" appearance at the upper rump area. I wouldn't want that either.

Thanks again!

Denise

I'm not questioning your decision, but did want to let you know that sitting is not uncomfortable at all because the "implant' is at the top of the butt.

Good luck to you!

No worries--good to hear it all. I was just thinking that sitting in a chair would mimic leaning back against something. Perhaps it's not a posture that applies too much pressure.

Thanks!!

same for me, sitting doesn't hurt at all, never did.  Just the top of the butt hurts when you lean up against something or lay on my back!
