Im 3 days out from my panni(finally got to shower today) and the only major sore spots are where my drains are located...is that the most normal/irritating feeling? Other than that im doing pretty good. Meds are still being taken every 4-6 hrs but I slipped up last night and went to long in between and I felt and paid for that. Praying for a speedy recovery and healing for anyone who has recently had any work done.

My drain are not really sore.  You will have to wait for some other reports.
Is there any drainage around the area.  I did notice today (11 days post op) that the drains hurt when I moved them, but I realized it is the skin underneath that actually hurts when the hair moves when I move a drain.

Keep taking your pain meds.  Yesterday I threw up my pain meds in the afternoons.  I changed pain meds (down to liquid Vic.) and had a really rough night, but have not taken any today and feel better. (The Roxicet come to find out was making me feel reall bad.)

Now, if I could just get rid if the c. diff!

Amy,
There is no drainage around the area. Im thinking its the way the binder was laying on top of them and it being the 1st day I had really moved them myself. Today wasnt as bad. I learned my lesson about the pain meds, waited to long and paid the price(like I am right now). Thanks for responding!

the drains are uncomfortable.  i went to doctor the other day and they took out one drain and the nurse practitioner put gauze and some tape over drain site and it really helped i do not have the pulling anymore. Most people complain about them.

I had two drains, and I HATED THEM!!!!! One was super tender and sore, the other was more just annoying. It was the best feeling getting them removed. Plus that was my turning point when I could tell I was starting to feel better. Yeah my drains were my major sore spots as well. Just keep up on the pain meds and continue to take it easy. Hopefully you won't have to have them in for long! Glad your hanging in there!

I am 5 days post op from my hernia repair and panni, and the drains OMFG thats my only issue. Other than that I feel great I can get in and out of bed just fine with no issues. I hope to be able to get at least 2 of the 3 drains out tomorrow. Worst part, the drian that bothers the most is the ne that will stay in.
