Shower with drains???????
OK I have read how several ppl took showers with there drains attached to shoe string or lanard. My question is did your Dr. says you could remover your binder and take shower or did you just do it on your own.
I am 12-days post-op and thinking of just removing the binder, putting a lanard on and attaching both drains to it and taking a shower with dial soap. I have a new clean binder and non stick drsg that I can put on after drying.
My drains are probably coming out Monday. If I do this shower this way, I don't have to wait till hubby gets off work to tape a garbage bag around my binder area.

I was told I could remove my binder and shower as soon as I got home from the hospital (I had 4 drains at the time). I waited a few days, but it was fine. Some surgeons do not want their patients to remove the binder until much later. It seems to vary.
At 12 days post-op, I think you're fine, but maybe call your surgeon's office, if you're nervous. I hooked a bungee cprd to the top of the shower and hung my lanyard on the bottom part of it.

I should know better as being a nurse but I just needed someone else to say they did it lol. I am going to shower now. Thank you so much.

I would ask your dr. I was specifically NOT allowed to shower until the drains came out. Not that I thnk it will harm you, but you should at least know his recommendations.
I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!
"People spend a lifetime searching for happiness; looking for peace. They chase idle dreams, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within." - Ramona L. Anderson
I was allowed to shower 24 hours after abdominoplasty, medial thigh lft, and outer high lipo (4 drains). The nurse and I laughed at discharge cause I couldn't even move! :-0 I thought I would wait. As a matter of fact, I showered 4 days out and couldn't step into my shower, (I used a school textbook as a small step. I knew having to teach language arts would have some benefit I just couldn't figure out what!)
I was allowed to shower 48 hours after brachioplasty.
Happy showering! I always feel better even if it does take me a 2 hours to get things done between hand-washing my garmet and drying it while I'm in the shower to finally getting PJS back on! :-) I never have learned to appreciate the little things, but I sure do now.!

Wow - 5 days in hospital! That's a lot!
I had a full TT and my arms done and only got 1 night! I was glad though...I hate sleeping in hospital!
I'd bet if you read the stories of any of us who have had a tummy tuck here - you'll get similar information to what you're looking for with a panni. The two are similar, but with your surgery - you will lose your belly button most likely. A panni doesn't worry about the "looks", just about getting you comfortable without the extra skin.

Im just 3 days out and showered today for the 1st time with drains. My Dr. advised that I could remove the binder and shower but to be VERY careful around the drain ports. As soon as I got out the shower I pat dried along my incesion, lad maxi pads from hip to hip and then put my binder back on.

I was allowed to shower immediately after I got home from the hospita. My Dr. allowed me to have the binder removed to do so. Even after a week or so he allowed the binder to come off to be washed which took a couple of hours b/c it had to be air dried. Thankfully I didn't have to wait until the drains were removed because the last one was in for 6 weeks and couldn't imagine not showering that long.
My Dr. ok'd my showering as soon as I felt up to it. I was told to take my binder off for the shower and just to make sure I put it back on once dried. I'm four weeks out today, and still LOVIN my binder. Taking a shower is about all I can handle, than want it right back on. The first week I showered with a chair to sit on. I couldn't stand for the duration of the shower. At this point its not a problem. Take it slow, be careful showering without someone there to help you!
