How long did you wear compressions 24/7?

I will be three weeks out on Tuesday and I'm still wearing them near 24/7.

How long did you all wear them 24/7? When did you step down to 12 hrs? I go back for follow up on Wednesday, so I will ask. My doc hasn't specifically required the compressions--he has just said when it's uncomfortable wear them.

I'm mainly asking because it's HOT! I work tanks/drape cardigans all week...but with the compressions, I was sooo hot!

My surgeon actually didn't have me wear them. When I went back on Thursday he said to wear if my hands/arms become swollen or if its more comfortable for me, but suggested a light ace wrap. It seems that each PS is so different.

I've worn them a lot because of the women on here sharing that they wore them...but my surgeon hasn't required them. He gave me an ace wrap and I wear it at night. I wear a stocking like compression garment during the day.

He does require taping...but I've been taping plus compressions. It's hot!

I may start weaning myself off of 24/7 compressions. At night and when I work out, i feel like I need the extra support...but I'm going to try to go without during the day next week.

Also, my arms aren't as tight as I thought they would be! I love them...but I can still grab skin in some areas. I hope that is swelling

Laz, where did you buy this?  I think the PS I consulted with today just uses ace wrap...

Hi - my surgeon said 24/7 for 1 month then 12/7 - but he then said in my last follow up that the longer you can keep them on the better - he said that my skin is quite thin so the compression will help keep the swelling in check and reduce the risk of the skin stretching.

I'm now in my 7th week of wearing them 24/7 and will continue to do so for some time yet.

It's 125F here most days and I do keep mine on 24/7 even though its hot - I figure I only get one chance to make the best of my recovery - so whilst it's a pain and it's hot - I'll follow his advice.

I had brachio on the 7th of July.  My PS also said I didn't need compression garments, but to wrap my arms in ace wraps.  I did, but had a heck of a time getting close over the ace wraps so I asked about garments and she said it would be fine as long as they had good compression.  Anyway, long story short I wore ACE wraps at night and garments during the day; therefore, compressions 24/7.  The 27th I had TT, inner thigh lift, and outer thigh lipo so I have had garments on 24/7 with occasional ACE wrapping and my swelling in rally down.

Like someone else said I still think my arms are bigger than I would like, but the PS (I saw today) said that it was still swelling and it is still sore.  I specifically asked about about compression and she said 4 weeks REQUIRED 24/7.  6 weeks would be better, but it was okay if I had places to go (I laughed as I am still bent over and waddling to walk!)

So, after all that 6 weeks!!!!!!!

I was told 24/7 for 6 weeks. I have only taken mine off to shower. I started with a compression garment that was a size medium and now I'm in a small. It is so tight I hate it, but I'm hoping it will make a big difference in the end result!

At my last appointment, I said something about them still being a bit "loose". I was told they will tighten up some more with the compression, but if I want they can do "smartlipo" when I'm healed. That made me happy.

How's the scarring. My PS said he sooner do my breasts than arms because I keloid.

Ok, ok, ok...I'll stop being a baby! I wear them at night, no problem. Just during the day is killing me. I feel like I'm overheating.

I just wear children's tights as compressions...SiberianCat give the idea, and I get a size small, so they are tight. They do sell compressions, but I didn't know if they were worth it.

Also, I'm getting crazy pain in one arm on my forearm. It hurts when I stretch it all out. I also get incision pain...especially when the arms start swelling and the garments get tight.

Awww...what we do for beauty!

I had a sharp pain in one forearm for awhile after surgery.  My surgeon said it was nerve pain due to how things are all moved around in there and reattached as it scars.  He said to keep working at extending my arm as much as I could.

I did - every night I would stretch it out as long as I could stand it.  It did go away in a couple of months.

I only had to wear Ace bandages and for about a week.  But I got keloid scars on both arms.  I have just had them revised and this time I'll be wearing the compression garments much longer.  I got the custom ones made - like burn victims wear.

It's going to be fun to explain when I go back to work...
