New and want your opinion
Marsha,
Nooooo waaaay! I too am a preschool teacher (4& 5 yr. olds). I had a lower Body Lift July 11th, almost 4 weeks post op. I took 5 weeks, so I have 1 more week left to rest! I work for a hospital, so I have been using my disability! Thank Goodness for INSSURANCE!!!! BUT, I have to go back in 1 more week.
We know there is NO LIGHT DUTY with preschoolers. And believe me, surgery itself drains you! Your body will need proper rest in order to heal. My first week my mother and niece (13yr. old) came to stay with me while husband & daughter were working. The 2nd week, my mom had to go back home, but my niece stayed for 2 more additional weeks. She tended to my 2 lil ankle biters, picked up anything I did drop and did my running up and down the stairs!!!! I was able to stand and do dishes, wipe sinks etc...BUT NO SWEEPING, BENDING, MOPING,VACUMING, or even lifting my Britta water pitcher (engages ab muscles, you don't realise how much we do require engaging those core muscles). And yes, after a while of standing doing dishes, I would get tired. I know for myself, even giving myself a bath, would wipe me out!!!!!! As it takes soooo much energy to carry out those tasks.
And then there are those things we have no control over, like an incissions poping, developing an infection, etc... Some people around here have had incissions or infections materializing after 4 weeks. This week entering week 4 and next week 5, I have been increasing my activity level, so it will beable build up my stamina. I don't doubt my first week at work to be exhausting as its a different tired, compared to doing lite home chores.
Just plan your date around you having assistance the first 2 weeks, but even after, theres no way you will be capable of preschoolers. Its soooo important to heal, and our bodies do that with proper rest.
Good luck,
Prek3

Exercise is not a LUXURY!
Exercise is a NECESSITY
After hearing all this, I think it might be best maybe to do u tummy tuck, and maybe boob job, or maybe just one at a time.
When I had my RNY I took off 1 week then it was back to work. If I were to have this done I would not lift or bend and have my hubby and MIL do it all.
First I need to pick a surgeon, and talk to him about everything. With thinking about everything maybe this won't work out for me. There is NO WAY I can take any more than 1 week off.
After the first week I would only be here to supervise and nothing else. Dang wouldn't that be nice, then they can see that daycare is work......LOL.......
Thank you for all your advice........

Kind of depends, too, on type of incision. There is circumferential, fleur de lis (anchor cut), smiley cut in pelvis only and anchor cut that only extend up to belly button (not further up). Amount of muscle resculpting also factors in.
I had brachioplasty and fleur de dis TT 10 weeks ago. My incision goes mid hip on left around pelvis to mid hip to right - then it goes vertical from pelvis to between my boobs.
I could only lift 5 pounds first month, 8 pounds 2nd months and now at 10 weeks I'm doing 10 and working my way back to normal.
I was off work 4 weeks - I have a desk job. I'm still fatigued at the end of the day. I can just now lift my 1 yr old granddaughter but my belly really aches after doing so.
My arms haven't given me much trouble (arm pit incisions did split a little and stretch really pulls even now). I was really surprised how much my fleur de lis incisions and muscle resculpting hurt - much pain. Took me longer to recover than any "open" belly surgery I've had (this was my 6th).
Plan accordingly. Best wishes.

Probably not. With the Tummy Tuck you will not be able to lift anything over 8 pounds for at least 6 weeks, if you have no complications. Also there is no bending lifting or twisting allowed for that long also.
you will probabbly still be taking pain killers. I only had an LBL and took Pain killers at least once a day for 3 weeks. you can't care for other people's kids on narcotic pain killers.
I have not had my arms done, so I don't know how limited your arms would be, but I imagine it would also require at least 6 weeks before starting to be back to normal.
