I have read separately that sitting, laying, and standing all cause swelling to worsen.. So what say you? Which is best, worst?

For me personally I've noticed laying, propped up with A LOT of pillows is not only most comfortable for me but keeps my swelling down. I recently went back to work (I'll be four weeks out on Saturday) after only working 4-5 hours at my desk job, the sitting is AWFUL. I get home and am more swollen, in need of pain meds, and beat! So at least on my end the sitting has been the hardest. I can't even sit back on our couch yet. Have you found one of these to keep your swelling down? I am still really swollen. But love my results already, so I can't wait till its all gone and I can really see the results. Hows the healing been for you? How far post op are you? Hope all is well! Keep taking care of yourself.

Yeah, I concur- laying in bed or on the couch, but with a wedge pillow behind me is the most comfortable. I just am unsure how much time I should be up, and how much down. I am 10 days post op, and so far, so good!

I didn't have a job to return to after my procedures and I spent as much time as I could being propped up and elevated as much as I could. I wore compression with all of my procedures and I had very little swelling. My most comfortable position was in my recliner with pillows for several weeks. I tried to keep everyting elevated as much as possible.

I don't have a job either.. And try to stay propped up ( I dont have a recliner) .. But I just get SO bored. I walk around the house.. Go to the post office and get the mail.. Anything to break the monotony. I know I gotta chill though- rented 2 movies for tomorrow soi can sit still, lol..

My personal opinion is that the more you do the sooner, the more swelling you will incur. If you can take advantage of having things elevated as much as possible, I think the less the swelling is. Walking around is good for circulation but you can also move your lower limbs when lying or sitting and keeping things elevated really reduces swelling.

Make sure you all get up and move because you don't want to get a blood clot. Walking is good. I'm up and down all day.  I've been doing some light housework and cooking.  I'm not back to my walking/running everyday outside but that will come.  I'm back to work as a nurse on Monday.  It will be 3 1/2 weeks out.  A lot of my job is sitting but I walk to see paitents and go to meetings.
Not looking forward to going back at all.  I'm excited about showing off my new body but then again I won't be able to get anything done because all my coworkers are going to drive me crazy asking me about it constantly.  Everyone knew about the RNY and plastics.  It's hard to not tell people because it is so obvious!

My dr says the first two weeks I should be up "minimally" so I figure Monday is when I can not feel guilty about doing more stuff. I was not so compliant the past few days, and by bedtime I was swollen so tight! Today is a movie day, although I am alone, so I will be up (every hour, lol!) to pee, and have to make food for myself- plus I am a wiggle worm, so blot clots shouldnt be an issue. Good luck goin back to work!
