Waiting for implants after a BL

At my consult Monday, the Surgeon recommended I have a BL and wait 6 months for implants.  I've seen several on here get a BL and implants at the same time.  I know some Surgeon's prefer to wait.  I know Dr. Lomonaco here in Houston is a Surgeon that recommends waiting for best results.

What are the pros and cons?

Part of me doesn't want to wait.  Aside from being impatient and just wanting to get things done, I'm afraid I won't go back for the implants later.  I feel like I will be tired of surgeries and healing and spending the $$ and just be "ok" with what I have.

Thoughts??

I met with Dr. Kreiger, who has collaborated with Dr. Lomonaco on a book. Dr. Kreiger also likes to wait. He said there is great risk of having the nipple wind up in the wrong place (like on top of the breast--eek!) once the breast lift settles. He also talked about doing this sling thing at the same time as the implants to help hold the implants up and again needs to wait until the breast has settled to know how and where to put the sling.

Interested to hear the opinions of others. I've also read alot on here about folks being fine with "what is left" after the BL.Think of it this way, if you wind up satisfied with your breasts, then you have wasted the money on implants. Tough call I know.

Good luck.

If you're "ok" with what you have after waiting - isn't that ok?

I really didn't want implants.  I didn't want the maintenance.  I didn't want the risks (even if they were small) of leaking or having trouble getting a mammogram, or detecting cancer etc.

And I don't mind having small breasts - as long as I have SOME breasts! lol

So - I did the lift.  If I hate them and decide to "fill them in" later, I can...but if I'm "ok" with them, I can leave them be!  And buy some GREAT push up bras!

I had my breast lift done April 1st this year and three months later did the implants with my TT/lipo/muscle tightening/panni removal. One benefit was I got a multi-surgery discount for doing my breast implants at the time of all my abdominal surgery. The lift got them where they needed to be but my implants I LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! Couldn't be happier. Whatever you decide best of luck!

From what I have been told by surgeons is that the problem with weight loss patients is that our skin is so thin and already stretched out that in addition to what has already been mentioned above the implants have a tendency to be to heavy for our skin to support.  So waiting will allow everything to heal a bit better to avoid it from "bottoming out".  Sometimes it is not a problem if the implant you want is small, then you might not run the risk of it shifting and the skin being unable to support the weight of it.

I will wait 2 months between the lift and implant and still may get the "sling" which is Strattus ( a organic tissue derived from pigs that has been used for years in breast reconstructive surgery, heart transplants, and hernia repairs.  It will create an internal bra that will always support the weight of the implant to avoid it dropping in the future.

You may be happy with the lift, so waiting will give you the option too.  HTH

Awww, hell! I had "Body Lift" in my head!!!! That's why I didn't understand it! Lol - OMG! I'm such a dork! I chose not to have a lift because I've seen too many older women look too fake - I wanted to look natural, as age progression would have made me. So, I had the implants and TT at the same time and all went perfectly

I had a breast lift and implants all at the same time. I assume my surgeon saw that my skin was able to handle it and he was right. I had no problems with having both procedures done at the same time. I think it really comes down to the surgeons preference.
