Well, yesterday was my one week and I have to say this the hardest thing I have ever done.  I know each day should be getting better and better, I'm just having difficulty finding the improvement.

I had my first bowel movement 3 days post op and had no problem so I was relieved, but that quickly tunred into several bowel movement...I now am taking flagyl to treat c. diff. I think this is what is actually causing me to feel so bad.

I just dont feel well, I have had a headsche on and off for several days and am nauseous all the time.  I have NO appetite.  The protein shakes that I typically live on are making me gag.  Watermelon is the only thing that sounds good.  I have gotten tuna w/ hard boiled eggs to stay down.

I see my ps tomorrow and Im sure my leg drains will be removed and 1 stomach drain.  I HATE the drain removal so I am dreading this appointment, but know things will be better once the drains are removed.

I am usually a very positive person, but I have NO energy left!  I keep telling myself that I am ONLY 1 week post op, it just feel like it has been much longer!

Hang in there! Be sure to share all of this with your doctor at your follow up. I hope you can figure out how to get your protein in. I really think that would help you feel better.

Keep your chin up!!!  It will get better.  The first week was miserable for me but the second week was actually worse.  I just felt kinda crappy all the time.  I felt like I should be feeling better faster too.  Be patient and take excellent care of yourself!!!

Sorry to hear you're having a difficult time.  I'm scheduled to have the exact same procedures that you had in a couple of months.  Any advice you can share with me would be greatly appreciated.  Also can I friend you for pics.?

Thanks,
Shelli

I deal with C-Diff in the hospital all the time. Flagyl is a good drug.  Take it as prescribed. Drink lots of water so you are not dehydrated.  Let the doctor know how many tiimes you are going if it doesn't slow down.  Watermelon is a very common thing to crave actually.  My oncology patients who can't eat much crave watermelon all the time.  Other things I would suggest are to have a banana a day to keep your potassium ok.  Also yogurt is good.  The greek is better for us for the protein content.  Jus****ch the sugar content.  It also helps restore the good bacteria in your gut.  I think your feeling so crappy due to the infection.  The doctor should get a follow-up stool culto make sure you are clear.  Make sure you and your family washes their hands and keep the bathroom really clean.  C-diff is contagious. Hi Amy...

The watermelon is a natural laxative...That is just about all I have wanted to eat for the last three weeks...The only thing that has really appealed to me..that and ice cream from time to time. I went to see my surgeon yesterday and he stuck a needle into the hard knot on my front side...no fluid came out..( I knew it wouldn't) but it bled like crazy after all the sticking here and there...He put me on antibiotics, again...and told me to come back if it didn't look better in a couple of days...said it COULD BE staph...WHAT..?? COULD BE...WHAT THE HAY..??!! AND HE ACTED LIKE IT WAS NO BIG DEAL..!! I'M GETTING A LITTLE UP-SET WITH HIS SO-SO ATTITUDE...!

Your energy level will come back, although, it will take a little while...One day you will be on top of the world and by the evening you feel like you have crashed and burned...it happens pretty often...I think doing way too much..tooooo soon, has a lot to do with it and the fact we have lost our appetite and can't get the proper nutrition in...I know my iron levels are low, but My surgeon is yet to take a blood sample to see....eeeeeeeeerrrrr..!!

When I have my other work done...I'm looking for anothe surgeon..!!

Keep us posted...

Blessings and prayers for you..!

I agree with everyone else.  I'd bet the c dif is making everything worse - but really the pain meds and all made me feel like eating NOTHING for awhile and that made me feel weak...which made me not feel like eating...a vicious cycle.

Feel better!
