5 weeks out

Hard to believe it's now been 5 weeks since my lower body lift with buttock auto augmentation and breast lift. I'm still shocked that my surgeon did such an amazing job. My body was such a mess and now I feel "normal" again. My swelling is finally going down and the open part of my wound is almost fully healed.

The day of surgery, my weight was 143 (I was up a few pounds from my goal due to stress eating, I'm sure). I had 5 pounds of skin removed during surgery. Right after surgery, my weight got up to 148. My doctor warned me I'm probably gain because he wants me eating lots of protein, which I do, and told me not to "freak out". Of course I still freaked out, but I have been good getting more than his recommended amout of protein and actually make myself eat something protein-rich every 2 hours.

My weight got back down to 143 and I've been maintaining there. BUT I have been weighing on my mom's scale. Today I actually weighed on my scale and my weight is actually 134, 9 pounds lower than the day of surgery. Wow!! I feel better now, especially since I've been such a slug the last 5 weeks. Since my wound opened up, I've been too scared to do any kind of exercise. I can't wait to get back to the gym.

For those of you early out, hang in there. it does get better.

how long do you have to wait before exercising again?  i've got a tummy tuck (my 1st plastic surgery) scheduled for 9/6/11.  the major thing i dread is not exercising/running!   other than the kind of sick to my stomach feeling i have for spending so much money on my 52 year old tummy!  butt hubby is very supportive so i'm gonna go for it!

i've been lurking here for a while and have read of your wound issue and i'm so very happy you're healing well!

best wishes,
jenni

I was told at my 3 week follow up I could walk, do the elliptical, exercise bike, and up to 3 pounds weights, but then at week 4 I tore my incision open. I was so worried about it getting worse, so I stopped doing just about everything so it would heal. It drives me crazy, not exercising, but I know in the long run I will be fine. My daughter did tell my I'm losing my arm muscles...lol!!

There is such a common thread with many of us about fearing/dreading the no running biking or exercising.  I understand!!  I was able to get back to the gym early on but taking it easy and then started running a mile at a time at 6 weeks.

Yay Laura
So glad to hear that you are recovering so well.  Today I am 1 week Post op from severe ventral hernia and abd wall repair with a panniculectomy anchor cut TT.

I am just know waking up more and moving around more.  One thing is for sure, I have to have my pain meds to survive this lol.

I wish I could have gotten a LBL too but at least my insurance paid for what I have now and I am just shocked at not having a pannis anymore WOW.  Surgeon says they took off 14 + pounds of skin WoW that is hard to imagine.

You must feel fantastic.  Keep on the healing track hope to hear more from you.

Hi Laura! Good to hear things are going well.
I read about your wound while I was on vacation and I shuddered.
What a buzz kill that must have been!!

So happy it is better.

Take care!

Laura, So glad to hear you are healing so well. Even more that your open wound is healing well too! I have been so careful sense you shared what happened to you. Thanks for the heads up! I miss exercising so much! I gained some weight as well because my first surgery was done in April and I wasn't allowed to exercise for three months. Now I'm still waiting to exercise since my last set of plastics just three weeks ago. My husband mentioned my arms were looking loose again too! Wasn't too thrilled to have that pointed out, but I had already noticed that myself. When I woke up from surgery my Dr. told me he removed 10lbs of just skin, not including what he lipo-ed! Can't wait to get all this swelling down and start trying on smaller jeans. Are you still in yoga pants? Have you tried to start wearing any jeans yet? So glad you've made it to five weeks and are feeling good. I'm about a week behind you so glad to hear your feeling better so I can look forward to feeling better as well. BEST OF LUCK! Keep up the good work!
