What did your TT make easier/better?

I'm waiting for insurance approval for my panniculectomy and I'm wondering.. will it actually help my back or is that just what we're telling my insurance to get it covered?  Plastic surgeon says I have about 40 or more lbs of skin that he will be taking off (I lost about 250 lbs so yeah lol) It seems to be pulling my mid back which is where my arthiritis was a couple years ago. I hope it helps so I can do the job I'm training for which is medical assisting and then on to RN.

What kind of cut did you have? What problems did you have before that were better after...did anything get worse? I'm also wondering if it's odd to try and move around once that 'bag of weight' is removed off the front? I'm not worried about the pain - thats what meds are for and honestly the pain of being "severely morbidly obese" was worse than anything I could imagine right now.

Hope to hear some feedback guys - thanks in advance if I forget to post back! (trying to get better about following up on my posts)

I was approved by my insurance company for a panniculectomy and my PS did a full abdomnioplasty instead including a new navel and muscle tightening because after birthing 10 kids my insides were gone!......lol.....

when I awoke from surgery and sat up and took my first walk in the hospital all of my lower back pain and pressure was gone immediately.........the compression felt wonderful, I only had 1 JP drain and my stomach was flat for the first time in over 25 years..........I am 5 months out now and I have bouts with swelling...but I always puff up mid-cycle

I had a huge hanging pannus and my DR. took off over 7 pounds of skin.....may not seem like a lot but carrying it on your back hurts!......I use to be able to just pick my stomach up and hold it and feel the relief......now I can see my poo-nanny!

That's pretty much what my surgeon wants to do..he WANTS me to have a belt lipectomy but I can't afford the extra cut right now because of school bills. SOOO he said we could see if we can get the panni covered and there are things he can do..like "accidentally" slip and have to "repair" the bellybutton or remove skin that was necrotic...he said there are ways he can get the upper part off - generally I think he's just interested in helping me. They also offered me an externship with possible employment LOL talk about choosing the RIGHT surgeon!

I think the lifting up the panni part is what I'll NOT miss the most lol..been lifting up my tummy to wash for YEARS. I'm a very clean person so a relaxing shower or bath ..isnt relaxing when you have to lift all that up.  Being able to see your "stuff"...wow that's gonna be STRANGE for me!!

Pounds schmounds.. skin is skin and it weighs!! Dont care if it was 7 or 40 - if it was hurtin, I'm glad you were able to get rid of it!

I had a large gutflap removed.. and yes, it's quite a feeling to no longer find extra strong bubble butt underwear to have to hold it up so it won't swing anymore.  I found myself many time just touching myself.. I don't mean in a sexual way, but just hands on belly.. enjoying the feeling of it no longer being there.  It's nice, you're going to love it gone.   Also, just wanted to add, when I woke up, and it was gone.. it was like my mind accepted it right away, it being gone.  It was a nice feeling.

Looking at your picture, it does not look like you have 40 pounds to be removed. I had 5 removed with my lbl. I, too, am thanful I no longer have to lift up my belly or my boobs to wash myself. I do feel so much cleaner now and showering is so much fun!!

I have the circumferential cut, no fleur de lis.

Most of mine is in the pannus - I havent taken pics of that yet because my fiance has been at work and I need him to take the pics for me. This is about the only place I would EVER think of posting pics of my hanging memory lol. I literally looked and looked for pics of extra skin when I was pre-op and couldnt find any. I know mine isnt bad compared to some but I don't like mine and I want it gone! I'll post in a thread once I have the pics up ... in a way, I'm proud of my skin because it shows just how much fat was on me that I got rid of ^_^
