You can click on my avitar or name to see pic "9 week post plastic necrotic wound".

I had my 2 month post op check yesterday.  My wound is looking GREAT (check the 6 week pic for comparison).  I took matters into my own hands!  I started using a Young Living Theraputic oil called "The Gift" ( it has Frankincense, Balsam Fir, Jasmine, Galbanum, Myrrh, Cistus & Spikenard) in my wound.  I startd taking Young Living "green capsules" with chlorella & super food powders and drinking a moringa plant juice called Zija.

See for yourself how much the wound closed in.  I don't know what "worked" but definate improvement.  I also keep protein at 130 gm a day, kept fluids up, drank green smoothies, ate "clean" & organic, etc.  I've stayed out of the heat.  Still using silicone strips on my brachioplasty scars.  Arms are great.  Belly swelling is much better, too.

I don't have to wear compression garments anymore.  I can slowly resume normal activity, exercise and work to higher weight lifting (not as in a gym - more like lifting granddaughters .  When the open wound is completly closed I can take a bath!  Yeah!

4 hour drive for a 5 minute doctor appointment then 4 hour drive home.  Best visit yet.  Surgeon wants to see me back in 2 months.  I will do some befor and after pics when this wound heals.

Penny, so glad you had a good doc visit.  I know you were worried at first (I would have been, too.)  Can you  post a pic of your arms?  Wow, you were brave to put that oil stuff on your open wound.  Did it sting?  The other green stuff sounds doable.  Never heard of moringa plant juice????  Now would silicone strips been appropriate for your belly or are those only used on non- open wounds.  I'm just full of questions today.  Glad you are moving towards more lifting -go slowly-  as in granddaughters    -Jenny

I will get hubby to photo my arms (he did the pre op) pics.

When I "pack" my wound, I put sterile saline in a little ramekin and then put gauze in the water - so when I started with the "oil" I just dropped 3-4 drops in the sterile water and swished it around and then put in my gauze to soak it all up and then packed my wound with it.  Now the "inside" of the wound is EVEN with my skin, so I put the gauze on top and cover with a 4x4 gauze.  The paper tape has "ripped off' so much skin, so I'm really careful.  The "open wound" when caused by lack of circulation really has no feeling - so there is no burning.  All the oils I use are theraputic and can be taken internally or used externally so all are  very safe.

Google - moringa or Zija and you will find alot of info.  It is a plant that contains almost perfect nutrition and is grown in third world countries to combat malnutrition especially in infants & children. (I can't vouch for this - but didn't think it would hurt!)

Silicone strips need to be on "closed" incisions - so can't use them on my open wound till it is scarred over.  I'm hoping that will be within 2 weeks.

Just saw 3 year old granddaughter (Lillian) Thursday and first thing she said was "Grandma, can you lift me up yet?"  I had to tell her, no.  Hopefully within a couple weeks my belly muscles will be up to it.  It has been weird today to not have support garments on - I find myself holding my belly all the time.

wound looks great! If you are still having problems with tape ripping your skin off for dressing changes, go to the pharmacy and get some 'duoderm', place on the skin where you put the tape, and tape the dressing to the duoderm.  Duoderm is a product used to cover pressure points on bedridden patients and can stay on the skin for up to 72 hours at a time.  It is permeable to air and water so the skin under it will not breakdown.  Ask your MD first.  We used to do this for patients in the hospital I worked in who had really frequent dressing changes and were getting skin irritations from the tape.  Good luck!
