I know it's a small price to pay, but I miss my suntan!! How long do we have to stay out of the sun??? Can I go out in the sun if my incisions are covered????? And when can we go swimming? I'm 4 weeks out tomorrow.

You'll have to check w/ Dr. L but I think I was told not to go swimming/baths/hot tubs for 6 weeks w/ all my surgeries. As for being out in the sun I probably would but then again I went on vacation only 6 months after my last surgery and didn't bother to cover my scars. They all look fine even after being in the sun. I bet your girls are dying to get back to the pool as well.

oops I'm 5 weeks tomorrow and I've been tanning outside for a cpl weeks.  Crap wasn't told not too.  I just cover the open spots on my incision.

I had my tummy tuck and breast work done in June of 09...I wore a tankini so my tummy was covered. Had my arms and thighs done in the fall that same year and the next summer they were not exposed if I sat in a lounge chair. Now 2 years later they have all had sun exposure and they look fine.

I was told by my PS - no swimming, hottubs, etc. for six weeks and if all incisions are healed at that point.  Was also given instructions that for the first year - even though my incisions would be covered by a swimsuit - that the material does not provide much in the way of sun block and to definitely use sunblock on the incisions.  Hope that helps!

That's funny, I'd been thinking about posting the same question!  I'm a sun junkie & need at least a little tan going on!

I'm 6mo out and went rafting, used a lot of suntan lotion on my arm scars.  Trying to wear hats when I'm out in the sun for my face.  Dr S said 1 yr out of the sun for the scars.  I wouldn't go swimming until all is healed up.  No open holes...

Soooo glad to hear I'm not the only one out here that misses a tan! I love to keep up on my tanning but the surgeon has told me no sun for at least three months after my lift, (done in Apr of this year) and now another three months from my recent plastics done three weeks ago. No bathing, swimming, hot tub for eight weeks for me! Can't wait to take my new hot bod out into the sun, unfortunately for me my summer is coming to an end and we'll be into fall by the time I can sun it up again! Thanks for posting Laura...makes me feel better to know It's ok to miss my tan!
