I was wondering if anyone else has had the problem with losing there hair again after having their tummy tuck or other plastic surgery?  I had my TT on May 19th and I am starting to lose my hair.  It is getting so thin.  I wanted to know if it was because of the surgery or if I should check into it because it could be something else.  Any input is helpful.  Thank you

I am 3 weeks out from lbl/bl. I noticed a bit of shedding in the shower the first 2 weeks, but mine has gotten better. Other people here have posted about hair loss, but it seems to be temporary. Are you taking all your vitamins and getting in enough protein? My surgeon wants me to get 90-100 grams of protein a day for optimum healing.

I am having trouble getting all the protein.  I am not able to eat as much as I did before the surgery.  I guess I need to up the protien to see if that helps.  Thank you for the advice.

I upped my protein to 130 gm a day a month before surgery and have kept at that level since my fleur de lis tummy tuck and brachioplasty 2 months ago.  I can't get that much from food, so I have two whey isolate protein servings throughout the day - usually a protein latte and protein in greek yogurt with SF syrups.

I have lost some hair every time I've had general anesthesia (from when I was in my 20's and now in 60's) so for me it's the anesthesia.

I also  upped my B complex, Biotin, Hair skin and nails vitamins.

I've been eating Cliff Bar 20g protein bars twice a day since surgery to keep my protein up.  I had been getting about 80g/day before plastics.  You can only eat 1/2 a bar at a time due to sugar content to equal 10g per sitting.  The mint chocolate and plain chocolate are really good.  Walmart has them the cheapest in a box-$7.49/box of 6.  Giant Eagle has them 10/$10 every couple of weeks.  I got them at Whole Foods yesterday for $1.49 a piece yesterday.  I upped my bars to 3/day and I'm eating Greek Yogurt.  I like Athenos greek yogort-Walmart $1.00-10g sugar, Fage-$1.29-1.49-17g sugar eat 1/2, Chobani-$1.29-1.49-16g sugar.
I'm not a big meat eater.
Take your vitamins, drink your water and other supplements.

I love Chaboni greek yogurt, I have a hard time eating meat.  Thank you for the tip on the protien bars.  I will definatly make sure to up my protien and water and get my vitamins in.

unfortunately hair loss can be a side effect of any major surgery and also a side effect of anesthesia.  the increased protein will help decrease the amount of hair lost.  Good luck!
