I know I am scheduled for my abdominal surgery on Aug 4, to repair hernia and then cut excess skin he said he was gonna tighten this and tighten that but I was busy studying for finals that dayof my consultation that I didn't focus on the procedure just my calendar as we haggled over dates. So tell me what have you had done that your insurance covered 100%. What ever he is doing my insurance covers. I think he has to tighten up the walls to make sure this MASSIVE hernia doesn't happen again. HELP, two weeks to go, confused yet very ecites. I do have my consent and photos appt w him next week but I am impatient, I need answers now.

I have 2 insurances-NGS through my employer at OSU and United Health Care through my husband.  I had weight loss surgery and skin removal benefits throught both.  But when it came down to it, NGS approved the panni only.  UHC said even the panni was cosmetic only.  That really ticked me off. I paid for the rest of my tummy tuck-Fleur de lis) as an add on, lipo, breast implants, facility fee and anesthesia myself.  I couldn't get good answers about the insurance paying part of the anesthesia and facility.  The facility and surgeon required I paid everything ahead at least 2 weeks before.  I financed my sugery partly through Care Credit and a credit card.

My insurance paid for NOTHING.  They even wrote in my Approvale Letter for my RNY that they would not pay for any skin removal that was a result of the weight loss, even if it was deemed medically necessary.

I had my LBL on June 14 (So is that 5 weeks or 6 weeks ago I have already lost track)  and I had to pay for the entire thing myself.  $16,005.  But my tummy, outer thighs and but look great now!  and now I start saving for the arms and Boobage.

Be really happy that your insurance is going to pay for some stuff.  If you are confused about what is going to happen send your surgeon an email and say something like "I just wanted to clarify all the procedures we are going to do and that insurance is paying for"  Then list the ones you remember and ask if you have forgotten anything.

I have bcbs in TX, also. I never even thought to ask to get anything covered.

How are you getting all of that covered? I just paid for a brachio oop...but I'd like a BL and TT on insurance's dime!

My insurance (an HMO) paid for the tummy tuck and muscle tightening but nothing else.

When I had my first consult, the PS told me that she could usually get surgeries covered if there was a hernia involved or a documented yeast infection in the folds of skin for at least 6 months.

Thank you all. I visited my PCP today and he doesn't know the exact procedure but I have what my surgeon called a MASSIVE inguinal hernia. So because of the hernia, i get muscle repair and tummy tuck, that if it is really bad he said I may be entitled to a cir****omething abdominoplasty.

Mistakenly I goggled this stuff and it just panicked me. I know my arms won't be covered unless I have a dermatologist record rashes for the minimum of 12 months.

So tummy tuck is only lower abdomen right? I was hoping for my entire abs but I see I have to pay for that. I actually need a breast enlargement. I went from a triple D to a barely B.

My insurance paid for nothing I have BCBS (but my employer has a clause about "cosmetic" surgery) I didn't want to jump through hoops and get months of documentations, so I'm paying out of pocket for a Full Tummy Tuck and Brachioplasty.
