Compression garments?

What are good ones for a brachio?

My doc gave me some light mesh ones...and doesn't require them, but I think I'll need them. I've Been wrapping with ace bandages when I feel they need extra support. But I would like to get something that isn't so obviously as ace bandages.

Also, are you guys using garments the whole day or increments?

I also had my surgery on Tuesday...and I feel great. I'm back to regular activity--not lifting, not reaching, etc. But I feel good. Will the other shoe drop or is the brachio pretty easy? I'm just super paranoid about my scars. Other than that, I feel good.

I wore this one and loved it. I wore it long after I had to to hold my silicone strips in place. It was comfortable to me. Brachio recovery was easy for me, too.

Ok, I'm leaning towards one of those.

Are they true to size? I typically wear a medium shirt...but should I get a large, so it's not too tight?

Also, I wonder if there are places to get used ones?

I think they were true to size, but maybe get a large if you are swollen. Immediately post-op I wore a large because of my swelling but wore a medium after a few weeks when the swelling went down.

I just went with trouser socks with the toes cut open - very light compression, held the silicon strips on nicely, and inexpensive enough that I could have a new pair for each day.

I have a week before returning to work, so I'm going to play around with different things this weekend.

I like the ease of those...but I've also seen the toddler stocking suggestion. I will look at trousers, also. I can get those at the dollar store.

One last question, my doc was saying that simple medical tape would be suffice for the scars. Do I need silicone tape? He said in his experience, the differences in the two are very minimal. Thoughts?

Can someone tell me what silicon strips are, where you get them and how important they are?My PS never mentioned them.

I had to wear ACE 24/7 for the first month - except in the shower.  I started silicone strips, surgeon office had them ($75 for a box of 4 - one inch by 6 inch stirps).  For this second months I wear silicone strips 24/7 (except for showers) by day I cover with legs from toddler tights (panty and toes cut off) to hold strips on and then wear ACE bandages at night.  Sucks to have these tight little arms covered up - but that's the way it is.!!

Not much pain with arm lift.  My incisions opened a little in arm pits and I'm still a little "tight" in arm pits, burns when I lift up high over my head.  I still have an 8# weight limit.  I see PS this Friday and hoping to be able to stop using silicone strips as I think incisions look great.
