I have been so sick...

I just got back from my surgeons office...Last night I had an awful night...I moaned and groaned all night and could barely even turn over...I knew I had a temp, but I could not find my thermometer...I got up at about threin the morning to get a pain pill and when I stood up fluid gushed out from around one of my drains, filled up my panties and ran down to the floor...I was in soooo much pain around my mons area, I thought I was going to faint...My husband has injured his hip, leg, and buttock and is in a lot of pain, as well, so I didn't wake him up...I was shaking like a leaf on a tree and my teeth were chattering...I cleaned myself up and put ointment around my drains and folded a thick bathcloth and stuck it over the drain tube where the fluid had gushed out to try and catch any more that would seep out...I went and laid back down, as I was getting drowsy from the pain meds and after about an hour, I got back up because I was soooo thirsty...When I stood up it happened again...All the fluid could not get through the tube and into the bulb...All the fluid that was backing up into my mons area was causing an infection...My surgeon said that the line was open, so we think during all my twisting and turning I caused the line to get a kink and that is what prevented the fluid to go into the bulb...

My surgeon looked at my drain openngs and said there was no sign of infection around the site, but all the traped/dirty fluid, had caused an infection to start...under the skin.... I am on a sulfer antibiotic and because I came right on to the surgeons office, he thinks it will clear up quickly...I sure hope so...I FEEL TERRIBLE..!!

PLEASE SAY A PRAYER OF HEALING FOR ME...I WOULD SOOOO VERY MUCH BE GRATEFUL..!!

AND I WAS DOING SO DANG GOOD..!!

Praying you will feel better, the antibiotics will work and your husband will feel better, too.

I have a new philosophy, I'm only going to dread one day at a time.  Charlie Brown

That is awful.  Girl I would have pushed to be admitted to the hospital. It  sounds like that is a pretty bad infection.  I'm super anal about infections being a cancer nurse.  lf you don't get better pretty quick or keep running a temp, keep on the doc.  You don't want to get into trouble.
Keep up on the fluids and watch your incisions for drainage color, odor, etc.  Keep in touch.  Jodi

Sending a prayer!  I am hoping you are feeling better soon.  Take it easy, one day at a time.  Remember to put something in your stomach on a routine basis!  (Antibiotics tear up my stomach for whatever reason.)
Here's hoping you are back on the healing path quickly!

Oh Cyndy!  That sounds like it was so frightening for you.  I'm so glad you were able to get right in to see your surgeon.  I hope that the drugs work quickly and that you're back to your happy self.

Sending hugs and prayers your way.
