8 week post-op LBL w/ butt aug update (pics, too)
So, today is 8 weeks post-op! I feel pretty good. I can basically do all my normal activities without a problem. I do still try to avoid lifting, though.
I have to say that I thought the overall pain would be much worse than it was. I stopped taking pain pills (other than regular old OTC stuff occasionally) after a week. What I wasn't prepared for is how long it would take me to get back to normal. I had the idea in my head from somewhere that I'd be normal again by 4 weeks out. NOPE! I'm not completely normal now at 8 weeks. This has been a bit frustrating, but I know it's all worth it. I feel like the butt augmentation is what has taken the longest to recover from. My stomach actually felt fine after a couple of weeks, but this ass of mine still swells quite a bit and can be very tender and uncomfortable. I still can't lie on my back.
I did get a lymphatic massage earlier this week and it felt really good and did seem to help with the swelling and the hardness in my butt. It's also less tender. I might have to go back for another one in a week or two!
What else....I did develop a seroma post-op. After having drains reinserted and it aspirated several (3?) times I found the only thing to work to keep it from coming back was to roll up a small hand towel and shove it inside my compression garment to REALLY put a lot of pressure on that area. I wore it like that for about 10 days and it never returned.
Oh, clothing size......I can only just now fit into my pre-op pants, but I'm still not wearing them because they are uncomfortable at the top of my ass (again the butt augmentation!). So, I've been wearing dresses.
I'm THRILLED with my results. I have absolutely no complaints at all. Well, I wish he could have removed all my stretchmarks, but when you have 4 giant babies you end up with stretch marks up to your boobs! So that obviously wasn't possible.
My surgeon is Dr. Ivor Kaplan with Magee-Rosenblum Plastic Surgery in Norfolk, VA.

So here I am this morning at 8 weeks out: (I am still swollen some.)
And here are my scars. I have not done anything to them....no silicone sheets or oils or massage or anything. I don't think they look too bad and I'm not all that concerned since they're hidden so well.

You look amazing, Tessy! Thanks for sharing!
At 3 weeks out, I never realized how exhausted I would still be. I am glad my surgeon wanted me to have 6 weeks to recover (I'm a teacher so I timed it for 7 weeks before I return to work).

Thanks!
I took 4 weeks off of work and then eased back into it. I work in vocational rehabilitation and technically work from home, though I'm rarely home! I'm on the road and visiting clients constantly, so my PS did put me on a driving restriction of 2-3 hours a day max from weeks 4 to 8. I spent a lot of time in the car today (first time going up to the Richmond area since being back) and it went okay, though I was tired and a bit stiff and sore by the time I got home.

Glad to hear you're doing better, even though you don't feel 100% yet. I'll be 8 weeks out when classes begin. I teach freshman so I'll need all the energy I can get!!

Looks fabulous.
I love that hand towel idea. I am 3 1/2 weeks out and I still have 2 drains and one is still draining a ton, and I considered it is because my compression garment isn't very tight anymore. Even after washing on hot and drying it for a full 30 minutes, it only stays tight for about 3-4 hours. I think I will try that one!
