Panniculectomy 12 days ago

I have mostly lurked in here, but I need people to chime in!!!

I had a panniculectomy on 7/05.  Currently, I feel pretty great and the incision is healing nicely.  He removed 4 pounds of skin (I was a size 4/6 beforehand in shapewear) from the pannus, pulled down the remainder of loose skin and stitched me a new belly button.  I am dealing with my own psyche right now due to the swelling.  I now have the crazy fear that my pant size will actually INCREASE after surgery rather than stay the same (oh god to not wear a Spanx type thing every dang day) or decrease.  So, I just need some people to chime in and talk me down!!!  It gets better, right?

Also, if anyone wants to go read about my experience or my story, my blog is at http://shanasparkles.wordpress.com

I have some before and current pics that I am willing to share privately as well.

Thank you!  I know this but I apparently need to keep hearing it for a while, LOL.

Did you take your measurements? I waited a few days before I did. I was up 4 inches in my waist and hips. Ugh. The swelling has gone down 2 inches in both places, but I have been maintaining for the past wee****ep trying to remind myself that it will take time, but patience is not my strong suit. I see Dr. LoMonaco tomorrow so I'm sure I'll whine to him about it. I'll let you know if he gives me any tips to deal with it....

Surely we will both be OK....

How is it my PS is on 6/4 and I have no idea what is beng done to me? Is it a panni they do or the abdomin? Ihave a huge hernia so they r removing that and doing the PS. Appt on 7/27 cause I will be asking tons of questions. So besides the actual procedure what else should I ask?

Ask if they're doing any muscle repair (tightening) and if you're getting a new belly button. And if not, ask how much it would cost to get both done. For a basic panniculectomy, they do not do either. They just cut off the extra skin.

Thanks Laura. I met with my physician who is from the same medical group and he says that because i have a massive inguinal hernia they must do muscle reair to assure that the hernia doesn't happen again. And the PS did say he was gonna give me a cute new belly buttn since mines was so large ad open from being super morbidly obese for decades. I was worried before, now I am just very excited.

But I will be asking these questions just to be sure. I am hoping they do more than the lower abdomen because after coming done from my highest weight of 427 I have tons of hanging skin on my stomach.
