OMGosh!
I had the worst case of itcheeeeeeeeeeez last night! I had the hardest time trying to fall asleep! The itcheeeeeez led to the fidgetieeeeeeeeez!!!! And so went the cycle, that felt like forever, before I eventuallly fell asleep.

A longgggggg time ago I heard that getting the itchys, was a sign of healing. Can anyone tell me if this is a myth  or truth??????

I get it sporadically (sp?), and it doesn't last for long, or consistently. But last night was aweful!

Yes, I took a Percocet at bed time to gaurantee a good nights rest, and I didn't drift off, even though I was tired, cause I was watching t.v and catching up on e-mails. Maybe next time I won't fight the feeling and should just snoooze away.

HELP! ANY IDEAS?

yes it's a sign of healing. My dr perscribed hydroxyzine hcl 25mg, although it makes me sleepy it does help.

It can also be a side effect of pain meds and antibiotics. Benedryl always helped me.

It's your pain meds.  I've got the same thing.  I'm also itching from the tape on my dressings.
I keep a back scratcher nearby. I felt a little better this morning afer I got washed up.

I have the itches too. My skin is peeling all around the incision, you know like skin does after a bad sunburn?   My skin has always done that after every surgery, the docs think it is because I have such thin skin and it is fair too.

if the itches are really getting to you, rub some hydrocortizone cream on the worst places , and regular body lotion everywhere else.
