Hi,
I was 200 lb when I had TT on September 2010. I am only 5'0, but I could not loose anymore.
My PS was ok, he removed 13
I think it is very important to be at stable weight before surgery, you should be fine.
Good luck,
Alla

Kind of creepy you sound just like I do right now, me just being a guy. I had WLS 2 1/2 years ago down 270 lbs. I have a date of late august looming for TT & gynecomastia with hernia repair,  would love to drop 15- 20 before surgery. Everybody says I look good too but  I'm still battling the mental deamons. But I know I am healthy now and I feel good which is what matters. My goal weight is 165 haha, so I'm still 100 lbs. over. I saw 4 different plastic surgeons before I picked 1 and none of them said I needed to lose more weight before they would do the surgery. I've been told I have 20-25 lbs that can come off anyways as I would like to hit 240 as that would be an even 300 pound weight loss.

I kind of have same anxiety you do about this but I am slowly coming to grips with it is how you feel and how  healthy you are now rather than what a number you are supposed to be.

Go ahead and get it done and don't wait a year like I did and drive yourself crazy.

HI Denise; et.al:

Thanks for posting your thoughts. I am also in the same situation. I had surgery in 2006 and was 329 day of surgery and went down to about 195lbs however I gained weight/muscle and went up to 220 and down another 5lbs. Clothes still fit the same and I have lost some weight recently, as well.

I have not been so obessed about gong down to 150(surgeon goal) like everyone else the psychological part of the changes is still mind boggling and also I feel okay, where I am. In  addition, post the surgery I found out I had other health related issues that were never considered  due to being super morbidly obese. So, now that these health related matters are taken care of and better managed.  I am considering doing a medial thigh lift (or in my case it would be lipo, since I have so much there) tt and a breast lift.

Like most folks, I am also thinking about whether I should go down another 20-30lbs or just have the surgery and continue to go down very slowly afterwards. I  had a consult on Wed and am waiting for the surgeons final decision.

Overall, has really a journey and it has truly been one for me. My life has changed so much, since the surgery, however there are things I feel kind of okay with and not so pressured about. There are also many doors that have opened for me and I feel great about it.

Denise, I liked what you said about accepting one's body the way it is currently and that being thick is okay. I still can't get my head wrapped around being 150 or a one digit size. Currently, I am a 14/16. Whoa, that sure beats being a 5x/6x.

Anyway, if folks have any suggestions on ways to further prepare for PS and post. i would greatly appreciate it.

Gracias,
Penelope

I'll let you know how I do with my consult!

I was about 35 lbs from my original goal of 150lbs.  I had only lost 5 lbs since Jan.  I follow my diet and exercise all the time.  I think your body has a set weight it likes to be at..  I saw the surgeon in April and he said I was ready.  I was 185lbs.  He said I was totally ready.  My body was really toned except for my bellies! He said he could really tell that I worked out.  I just had my fleur de lis tummy tuck, lipo, breast lift and implants on Thurs. I will tell you that mentally the left over rolls/skin definately messed with my mind.  They made me feel so fat.  No, I wasnt' almost 300lbs anymore but I focused on the leftovers.  It feels so good that my extras are gone.  I feel complete!!!  I think all of us deserve that last step.  I constantly had people asking me if I was pregnant all the time.  It was frustrating to have lost all that weight and have people basically think I was fat.  I shouldn't get anymore quesitons like that now.  I have such a nice flat belly and little waist!  Good luck!

Congrats!! How exciting! Your post is dead on. I feel like this remaining skin keeps me feeling negative about myself when I really shouldn't. My husband always says things like look how skinny your leg is or look how good your butt looks and all I see are lumps, bumps and sags. It is very defeating. I'm so excited to get rid of it--I just pray the recovery doesn't set me back for too long from my exercise routine. I'd LOVE to hear how you are feeling. That was a ton of work to have done. Hope you are doing great!

I'll give an update after my appt tomorrow!

Thanks,

Denise

Good luck!  I'll be waiting to see how the consult goes.  I haven't scheduled mine yet but I'm so interested in everything in this thread about being at goal etc.  Thanks for starting it!
